Ninjahmahs and the funky invisible pyjamahs of doomy goodness

Evening all,

Ninjahmahs here (yes i am a casual Ninjah who only dresses in the comfiest of specially tailored Ninjah pyjamahs).

Having followed mist TinyTomLogan throughout my fledgling journy into self built pcs (started about 2-3 years back) I have recently enrolled myself into a HNC in computing and systems development, as such my first port of call was to build a new highly fandangled FrankenPC and hand me down my current rig to a close friend at a good price to help him keep in touch with the higher end of gaming whilst giving myself an excuse to build a monstrousity from scratch.

My current new build is going to be made up of the parts as found here: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/user/NinjahMeh/saved/#view=WV7j4D and this will be my first venture into allowing water into my system as a cooling method.

I felt it was a good time to join the forums and use them to ask a few questions that I cannot find a solid answer for when simply googling like a ninjah on heat for certain aspects on issues I see as potentially inbound.

Welcome to the OC3D forums dude, your proposed build looks great except the Thermaltacky case. May I suggest you look at Corsair, Fractal or Silverstone cases instead.

I know I know, I have seen many people among some of the forums sneer at Thermaltake for whichever reasons they have. As it stands the case arrived this morning along with the water cooling unit, all im waiting for from that list is the 980ti, the new cpu and some thermal grizzly kryonaut paste for the cooling block.

I reeeeally was tempted to go for a corsair case and although they are aesthetically more pleasing and so on, the core x9 just has a really good amount of dustproofing on all its grated areas alongside the fact it is nice and roomy as well as having the horizontal mobo mount. This to me made sense as it meant i could easily tinker from the roof of the case later down the line when the build is complete but also meant the silly led lights of the gpu are ACTUALLY visible (as i wont be installing any other lighting)

a thing i have always been confused by with high end gpus, who thought it was a good idea to put leds on the gpus and have them mainly facing the floor...???


Anywho as my gaff is really not an ideal "dust free" environment and after a good 3-4 days hunting through cases i bit the bullet and got the x9 and truth be told, it really is my kind of style.
