Nickel plating from EK "WARNING"

Halt on EK Nickel Plated blocks - 11/06/2011

Dear EK partner/user,

As EK is looking for lasting solution for nickel plating issue (concerning corrosion because of silver coils and copper sulphate additive) we decided to halt sales of nickel plated products till solution is found and tested. Our resellers were advised to halt sales too.

We cannot put users into position, that we replace products and corrosion starts again on new product. Hopefully we will find an answer and tested solution in short while.

We will update you as soon as we have any news.

However, If customer insists on buying EK nickel block, we offer a customer full 24 month warranty on material, manufacturing and corrosion.

It's good that they are actually working on the problem, not just explaining off on other things and just letting it go at that. And to still give the warranty if you do buy the product, is a good thing, just don't know how that would go for us in the US trying to get it to EK for replacement or fixing it.

I don't know after a few discussions with re-sellers whom i deal with only 1 block has been found to have this problem in the EU. 1 block in how many sold. were as in the USA, Canada, AUS its more.

How ever this is un confirmed as there are many shops that sell these blocks.

Personally ive all ready said 1 metal is enough in a system i just old fashioned and think the bling factor is for your neck not for your PC.

Only problem I see with not using the nickle plated blocks is the ones I want has the acrylic tops so you can see the fluid running through them, and they all are nickle plated.

I don't like the black ones very much for show purposes. I want to see some bling in my system, if they were acrylic with copper, then I would get those. But the only one I see like that is for the cpu only, not the mb or graphics full cover blocks.

I really want to use EK blocks in the build I am working on, but.... do I dare? You are right mayhem, it is quite weird that the problem is only in US, AUS and Canada.

Good news every one :

EK RMA upgrade for corrosion - 14/06/2011

RMA is upgraded on two points:

1. We are lifting the RMA limit on corrosion to full 24month from the end-user purchase date without limit.

2. EK will cover all shipping costs of the RMA block to reseller and shipping of the replacement block back to customer.

The procedure of RMA request stays the same; filling the RMA form.

yar, good news indeed. I'm going to go with EK blocks and see how it turns out. If they are willing to give me a 2 year warranty with the new stuff I say go for it.
