NH-D14 RAM Clearance

I have been looking at components to start my first build. I keep finding RAM that I really like but it fails to meet the space restrictions of the NH-D14. Thusly I am coming to these forums to see if there are any folks that can give me a shove in the right direction.

The RAM is for the new 2500K i5 of which I plan to OC to around 4.6ghz because the voltage required for a 5ghz clock is too unstable for me. So, it would be nice to have a high speed set of DIMMs.

I was looking at the G skill Trident RAM but i am not sure if it has the low profile heat spreaders needed with the NH-D14

Mushkin is all you need to know!

If its a big problem just completely remove the heat sinks and run a few RAM intense bench marks to get your RAM temps. Don't know what max RAM temps are fore SB RAM. If you have an adequately cooled case you may not even need the heat-sinks. Not sure about new Sandy bridge Ram though.

This is one of the reasons I don't like the tower coolers (RAM clearance). Someone should see the light go on over their head and start making the coolers where there offset so RAM clearance wont be an issue, but thats just my thinking

sandy bridge ram isnt new mate its the same ddr3 from 1156

hmmmm...then what does this mean?

That's the way I figure it too. If this is true though why do manufacturers say it's made specifically for sandy bridge, something has to be different...unless it's another marketing gimmic. Until I see some hard DATA explaining that there is no difference...I'm sticking with their gimmic...hook, line and sinker. just call me fish Lol

its more than likely just another gimmik or tuned more towards an intel platform as u can use a triple channel i7 kit in 1156 minus one stick

It's a gimmick. It's like buying SLI optimized RAM. That was the biggest gimmick of all

.

It is because sandy bridge only supports certain speeds. This is why i like the Ripjaw X series, because they are stock clocked to push the limit with the supported speeds. They also look short enough to work with the NH-D14.
