American electronics giant Newegg is set to open for business in the EU.

Newegg say they are expecting to start trading in the UK by the end of March.

With a full European expansion in mind, Newegg are expected to grow substantially in size with hopes of taking on Amazon, with their recent expansion into non-electronic items and the launch of their Premier program, a service similar to Amazon Prime.

European retailers may have to rise to the challenge in order to hold their market share against this American giant, with it's current fame for low prices and great service for their North American users.

I personally welcome the additional competition Newegg will bring to the UK/ European market, I hope their move here will allow us PC builders to be able to have more choice and better deals or promotions than we currently have.

What do you guys think of Neweggs move here, do you welcome it or dread it? please comment below.

I welcome it myself, I'll try them out, and if I don't like them I'll avoid them in the future. More options for where you can buy your gear always sounds like a good idea to me :)

This sounds great, a big company like them crossing the pond means, that e-tailers will step up to the plate too. So overall this schould improve prices and customer service everywhere, if they want to be competitive! :)

Price war alert!

Well couldn't agree more!

Yeah everyone is going to slash prices, overclockers, aria and scan are the only 3 main etailers that dominate the market to speak. Amazon are already cheap so it will be interesting what happens.

Some stuff I buy from Amazon some from newegg. I have free shipping for both. Just depends on the prices the day of ordering.

This could be epic if they do it right, it will be nice to have more options on where to buy parts and get some killer deals (I hope).

Welcome it to no end. No more are the days on tech forums when US users are all like "well on newegg this and that" and us UK/EU users are all left in the cold.

Also price war. Can only benefit us, no?

Bet they'll register their Tax Office in Luxembourg to avoid UK taxes, great stuff. Perfectly legal though whilst being in the EU. Steam and others do the same.

Yay, gateway to Europe > Possible price wars on the way between major consumer electronic retailers > Profit for us?

Always good news when a major player enters the game, makes the established retailers sweat a bit and look at their pricing structure!

I welcome it as price competition is usually good for consumers.. Especially if they ship to ireland as we seem to get schafted with the dollar amount as euros..

Use Newegg myself quite a few times but with all this Coin Mining about they have gouged all prices for GPUs more so than other competitors.. using their reputation in order to charge more. Makes me weary but if the reason was to make more money for an expansion in EU then would accept that as a valid reason. CS is top notch too.
