newbie, trying to OC Q6600 Premium

Well I reseated cooler to cpu with "Silver Thermal compnd (formula 5)" and on startup temps showed 23c.

But after 10mns stress with temps down to 40c, #3 core shutdowm p95, as per screenshot below

Edit: bagary did'nt show up again!

HAAAAAM fix it please

Right well your temps look better :) just try upping the vcore a little, then use Prime to see if it is stable. Keep repeating until Prime can run for 8 hours with no errors, then it is stable. You shouldn't need more than around 1.3v to get your q6600 stable @ 3.0ghz.

For the screenshot you need to put 'http://' in front of the 'i404....':

Thanx, am proceeding with increases step by step.

I do but gramma won,t allow it:-

Adjust TJ.max to 95 in Real Temp so that it will at least show the right temps. ;)

To go back a bit to Phoenix's sugestion above, why do it if CoreTemp, Hardware Monitor, Speedfan & Everest show temps that Real Temp shows set at 100.

Also since I started learning to OC, when I push the start button it fires for a second, stops & 3-4scs later starts.

Don't know if CoreTemp has fixed the TJ.max for Q6600, but if not, you just edit the settings-file from 0 to -5, and it will also show correct temps.

Thanx, it gives same or higher, & what about the rest progs?

And if it gives same temps as RealTemp at 100 it must have its TJ adjusted the same.

Whom do you beleave?

That's correct. And as for the other programs, I don't know, cause I haven't used them, but look around in configs and settings, and you'll probably find it somewhere. :P

With the following Bios settings P95 run for an hr for 3 & 3.2 ghz, at around 52c. I tried varius sttings a step at a time. Is it a representative temp. or can you suggest improvements before I proceed on long tests.

Laymans language please as I am not OC litterate.

Note: AuxFan 2” is sitting on N or S bridge, the one above the cpu(foto}

I have PM them to TIMMY.

i would suggest better airflow in the case as the first step. the fact that you are hitting 69 on this mild overclock is wild. you need to seriously invest in a better case IMHO

Thanx Usman,

I have recently upgraded the CPU cooler & PSU and temps decreased a lot but have been unable to get below 56c, & the grfx card 60c.

But as I will only be using this 3.2mgz OC now & then for fs9 where it only reaches 47c I feel it should be safe.

I will post separately a screen shot of the short 2hr p95 test.
