newbie, trying to OC Q6600 Premium

Hi, learning to OC from 2.4 to 3.0ghz, but my main concern at the moment is lowering the Temps that are too high relative to others doing same.

Any advise will be apreciated, thanx, nick

Have no case fans & both sides are remooved.

At 1.2625v im sure the cpu should not be that hot. What cpu cooler have u got? There is 13C difference between cores, that seems high to me. Have you checked to see if the cpu cooler is mounted correctly?

Edit: seen your sig. Try remounting the cooler.

What thermal paste are you using?

Woah!!! those temps are wayyy too high for just 3ghz,I think you need to seat your cooler,what termal paste are you using?

Whatever paste OCZ gives, silicon compound.

Bought Silver Tharmal compnd (formula 5) from maplins Intending to apply it later, if it is any good will do it now.

Found pushing those pins down very hard & not 2 together click.

Preffered the AMD type I was used to.

Anything else besides that. How about in the bios to drop the temps?.

Adjust TJ.max to 95 in Real Temp so that it will at least show the right temps.

There is nothing wrong with the Intel push pin system, put the black bits on the cooler so that they will lock when pushed down.

Open them up fully.. push down on the metal bits holding the pins in place, push the pin through the motherboard and then push down on the black bit so that it will lock first time. Do it in alternating corners to get a good fit.

Sorry if that is hard to understand, it makes sense to me when I do it

OK Dutch, but dont forget the pins are under the huge fins, hard to get at.

I have no idea, I've only used speedfan on my ancient now-bedroom-PC to turn down the CPU-cooler speed.

if you go to the speenfan website you can search to see if anyone has uploaded a config for your mobo and d/l it(if you just want to rename stuff select which readout you want to change and pressf2)
