Newbie Questions

Update~
The guy with the 360mm Rad Locally didnt reply to me yet. =/
Guess thats off the list. Which sucks because that means that this build will be ~100$ More now. hmm.
I also looked on FrozenCPU and realized the prices arent TOO much worse.
Would you guys suggest a KIT or building it individually with different manufacturers?
Im really dieing to buy what I need.
Do you guys suggest anything different than what I have posted earlier?
If you guys could, could you look at dazmode.com for sales there? Id like to buy a nice setup but then again I dont want to be overpaying. :D
Thanks a lot guys. I really appreciate it.

I would do it, but my knowledge and experience with water cooling is very limited, so wouldn't be any point for me unfortunately.

Although, I bet someone else will reply to you shortly and help you out mate! :)

Good luck with your build and don't forget to post a build log for everyone to see! :)

Frozen CPU are a big company :) my advice to you my friend is to buy the parts individually otherwise you will end up swapping bits out of the kit for upgrades which works out more expensive

The fill port will be on top of your Res matey as for a drain port maybe a T fitting with a ball valve :)

Personally I have no drain port I just take my cpu waterblock off and undo one of the compression fittings to drain the loop

So I think Im actually going to use my NZXT Phantom for this build. Although I'd much rather use a Corsair 760T, it would be an extra 200 bucks ... for nothing really.... The phantom allows me to mod it as well.

I put together a simple loop that I think i'm going to run. Any suggestions on it? I kind of based it off one I found online... Thoughts?

Also. I think I have my almost final cart! Getting so close to hitting that checkout button. =00=

Flexible Tube 3/8" ID, 5/8" OD - White 10 feet (Still havent measured this...)
3/8"ID - 5/8"OD Straight Compression Fitting
MrBrSp - Darkside 150ml DDC Reservoir-Pump Top Combo + DDC 3.23
NexXxoS UT60 Full Copper 360mm
EK-Supremacy EVO - Nickel
DazMode Protector
G1/4" Crystal Lighting Stop Fitting Module W/3PIN Wired LED-White

Im also planning on changing out the Fan controller LED's / Disk read LED to white. Anyone have any suggestions on 3mm LED Lights from amazon/ebay? Are they all the same garbage? I see that 100 packs are like 2 bucks.. with free shipping... Is that a normal thing? haha.

Thanks again for the help guys! I really appreciate it!

Cpu inlet on the left (gpu-cpu) and cpu outlet to rad is the right hand port of the cpu block :)

10 feet of tubing will be more than plenty. You can keep like 3 feet to attach to the res fill port when filling the loop should you want. Or you can also use a syringe to fill the res.

No idea about the led bulbs though :D

Thanks for the reply!

I was planning on going counterclockwise though. So Res/Pump -> 360mm Rad -> CPU -> GPU -> 240mm Rad. So in that case are my inlet/outlets correct? (I Don't know where the inlet/outlet will be on the pump/res. So I arbitrarily put them there for now. Also, Does it matter which ports I use for my GPU (I read that they are non-directional), So would it make more sense to make the tube going from the CPU to the GPU plug into the top right port for the inlet and the outlet the bottom left?

In your opinion how much tubing would I need? Id probably like a longer fill port to be honest so I can get it out of my case. I would probably need an extra compression fitting for that too wouldn't I?

Hmm.

So I dont think I'd have enough clearance for a 60mm rad in the top of my NZXT Phantom Full Tower. Even with modding.. Now the question is ... I can go with a smaller rad on top such as a 30.

OR

I can swap cases with my brother. He has an OLD Coolermaster Cosmos S. (About 7 years old).
I found this custom painted one
HPIM1538.JPG

and would do the same. Except with white tubing inside, a window mod. And of course... Watercooled..
But the problem im running into with that is finding good information about that case. (Such as how thick of rads can fit in there..). From doing some research, I THINK, a 60mm rad in pull can fit.

Anyone have any thoughts about this?

You'll need an extra fitting when you're going to use some tubing when filling indeed :) I did so as well, used a 3foot piece of tube for it and it came in very handy.

Which port you'll be using on the gpu doesn't matter whatsoever, take the one that is most aesthetically pleasing for you. As for the cpu block normally the ek models use the left port as an inlet and the right one as outlet.

As for the amount of tubing you need, just get enough like the length you spoke of. It'll give you room for error and to try things out as well. You can always cut an extra piece off. Better to have some spare than to be an inch short and get kinks imo

Perfect! Thanks for the suggestions! I appreciate them.

I think im going to go with the Cosmos S in this build. It'll be easier to carry around need be.
http://www.coolermaster.com/case/full-tower/cosmos-s/ (Its old, but im going to repaint the inside / outside)

In this case, do you suggest I get 15 feet then? Its pretty big.. haha.

Hey guys.
I Noticed that Dazmode has a Darkside flex kit. Turns out that kit saves me about 200 bucks from what I had chosen previously... Jesus christ. I think im going to go that route and buy a larger power supply with the money saved.

Its this kit here - http://bit.ly/1HSSIXA (Shortened because the original link was 3 lines long O.o)
It'll be a CPU block, 7 feet of tubing, 360mm low density 30mm rad, Liang 3.25 + 150mm Acrylic res. For the price I think its very good..?

I will still be buying ~7 feet extra tubing to go along with this kit as so I dont run short. As well as 3x Gentle Typhoon fans. ;)

This is the loop I planned out. What do you guys think about it?

Hey again guys!
Sorry for the break. I went on a vacation and then was getting the case painted! + Cut some extra holes for cable management + cut a hole to mount a 140mm fan I had instead of the stock 120mm fan hole in the bottom + removed the rad grille from the top!

Also, a slight update to the last picture I posted. There will be a 120mm fan on the top of the back of the case as well as a 140mm fan underneath the Pump. Like So.

Ill upload pictures later tonight. But I got around to installing things and filled the loop!
I only had it running for about 15 minutes last night and no leaks! Later today I'll run it for a good few hours to test it some more. When people mention to leak test it for 24 hours, does that mean leaving it running overnight? Or 24 hours monitored time? lol.

Any ideas on fan direction? I was thinking the top to be exhaust (in pull), the front to be intake (in push), the bottom fan to be intake, and the back fan to be intake? Thoughts?

I'd put the rear fan as an exhaust to help get some hot air out of the case. Doesn't really matter much though.

Leak testing is done right after filling it, you keep the pump running for a few hours while checking it regularly for leaks. If you don't get any leaks at the start you should be fine though, but people tend to leave it running overnight too with just the pump and a jumper on the psu just to be sure. Better safe than sorry in this case imo

Hmm okay. I just dont know how the pressure in the case will be. There will be a window side panel so no airflow from there. But I guess I'll still be playing around with the fan flow in the mean time.. And I was too worried to have it running overnight with only 15 minutes on the pump without monitoring it occasionally... I also noticed that the pump makes a fair bit of noise? Not sure if its because the pump is too tight against the res, or if its just that the res/pump is bolted to the wall of the case instead of being on the floor of it. Im going to try putting some sort of rubber or foam between the bracket and the case.
