Hi Guys, this is my first post so just help me out a little here. I am looking at building a very good gaming/multi tasking/workstation PC and would like your advice on the parts. 2x HD6970 will supply GPU power and it will all be cooled by a water cooling rig in this format pump>240 Radiator at HDD bays>CPU Block>360 Radiator at the top>GPU Blocks>Reservoir>pump. Is this setup good for my case (ATCS 840 w/Window) or would you recommend a different one.

If you have anything to say about the hardware or Watercooling setup please post below. I would like to know if this is a good Watercooling setup and a good rig. Here are the specs I'm looking into buying.

Case:

CoolerMaster ATCS 840 Black

CoolerMaster ATCS 840 Window Side Panel- who doesn't want to show off their watercooling?

Wow slow down there tiger I'm from aus aswell. The amount of money ur spending u can

Have a 990x! Get 2 580s which will destroy the 6970 also look at the Asus rampage 3 extreme or the g1 assassin with the money ur spending. Are u knew to computers and what are ya planning to use it for?

Ok, I'm afraid I know nothing about watercooling so i can't help you with the rest of the case but I did want to mention is that you don't want the Vertex 2. Imho It's a great drive (better half has one) but its sata 2. You should really go for a sata 3 ssd now like the vortex 3 maybe:

Also, I don't know what the availability of these are where you live but just wanted to mention that Powercolour actually do a 6970 with a waterblock already attached which might save you some money and wont screw up your warranty. Just a thought.

Yeah, but the 990X is twice the prise of the 970 (or is where I live) so you gota ask if you really need that extra performance for twise the money. If you do, or you just want it because you just really really want it then hell, go for it.

Yeah, two GTX 580's will destroy two 6970 and £$%& on the ashes but they also cost more. Just because you have a large budget doesn't mean you have to blow the lot. The GTX 580 also won't run as many monitors and maybe he's going crossfire for eyefinity?

That said, two GTX 570 may be worth considering if your not fussed about eyefinity. I personally think like this, you want 3D gaming and the love few games that take advantage of PhysisX then go NVIDIA. If you want to be able to run your games across 3 or more monitors (I know I do) go AMD.

If you really don't care about any of that then flip a coin and if your still not sure then go NVIDIA

I think I'm actually more of an AMD fan then NVIDIA but at the moment going off of Toms reviews the green team seem to be making a better job of things atm.

Also if the CoolerMaster ATCS 840 Black is the case he really wants then the Gigabyte Assassin isn't going to fit. However, maybe you do want to consider the Assassin's younger brother the Sniper?

I would suggest a different motherboard, probably the Gigabyte G1 Sniper or Assasin, because those are amazing for gaming. Also I would get a different SSD, probably either a Kingston V+100 or one of the Intel 510 series drives. I would also suggest GTX580s over the HD6970. They do perform better.

Definetely grab a different PSU than the Cooler Master one, I really hat theirs, because two of them died on me and I have heard quite a few people here on the forums talking about them not being that great. I would suggest a Corsair HX1000W or AX1200W. Seasonic and Enermaxx do make some good PSUs aswell.

Other than it looks pretty darn good

. The i7 970 will be a great CPU for that rig.

580s are waaaaaayyyy to expensive and arent in the 6970 price bracket I also prefer AMD because of eyefinity. Same with the 990x I cant afford $1200 extra! I also have to raise money for this rig so adding an extra $2000 sounds like too much. This rig will be expensive but not that expensive! I kind of like ASUS mobos but am open to suggestions. Just explain why the other things are better.

Yes im new to building computers and this will be my first build. I have a friend that is doing a diploma in IT hardware and he gets sponsored to build good gaming PCs so hell help me.

Sorry if I sound like Im picking on you but I thought id clear some things up.

Thanks, I was having my doubts about the CM PSU.

I'll check out the other mobo. Is gigabyte better or Asus? Any better case for a lower price that will support all of my components. Must have a window. It just has to look reasonable (HAF series) or perform really well to justify its ugliness.

P.S I dont even know when ill be able to build this. Just thinking about t now. enough good comments and ill actually do it.

Anyone Know what the HAF-X is like? And what s the window on the HAF-X like?

There's only one version of the HAF-X when it comes to sidepanels which is windowed. The case it self is massive has reasonable build quality and good cooling especially with the graphics cards due to the massive fan chucking air into the graphs. The window wraps around the massive sidefan and you can't see much tbh. Also dust is meant to be a problem with that case.

Hey guys,

sorry if im posting too much but somethings bugging me. My original plan for WC had been to split the flow from the 360 RAD on top to the Dual GPUs using a y fitting. Ive been on youtube recently and most people have just attached the outlet pipe from one gpu to the inlet pipe on the other. Which method will get me better temperatures or are they both the same? Also will a 240 RAD mounted on the drive bays heat the case as it is an inlet and the air will carry from the heated HDDs and RAD into the case or will it not make a difference?
