New SSD reporting as SATA1.5

Story goes like so: Got myself a Mushkin Chronos 120gb SSD, installed/set up etc., wasn't wholly impressed by the speed.

Made sure BIOS was set to AHCI, no problems there. Tried going to RAID and back again to see if it kicked something in, but while doing so happened to Ctrl-F into the menu there to check the drive configs, and the SSD is running at "SATA1.5"! :S

Tried a selection of SATA cables, with no change. Board is a Gigabyte 770-UD3, so only SATA2/3gbps anyway, but it's still odd, as the other drives (500 Barracuda, 1000 Cav. Black) are running fine at the higher speed. Flashed it to latest firmware, but no change.

Am I missing something? Am I being a complete n00b? Any help appreciated.

Have you benchmarked the drive to see if it's actually limited to SATA 1.5 spec? I wouldn't worry about what it's reporting unless the transfer speeds are actually capped at that rate.

Good point. How do these look? Bearing in mind it's a SATA3 drive on a SATA2 controller.

I'd say you're good to go! Your sequential read through ATTO is showing you are almost maxing out your SATA II interface @ 276mb/s.

Ah good

Mushkin seem to have skipped little things like the reporting. Was a bit worried when HWMonitor had the temps at 128 degrees! A quick search confirmed there's no temp sensor.

Thanks for your help
