New soundcard and speakers on the way!

BlueGears is top notch mate... I'm always up for supporting the underdog, and in this case i'm more than happy I've gonew with them over Creative.

Same here, I always support the underdog, usually they are better too, iRivers pwn ipods hands down.

I should really get around to getting an actualy 5.1 card, although, the onboard is coping, hehe.

I'm quite impressed with my £40 Creatives, but those Logitech look pretty sweet.

im debating lookinf for something like the logitechs... but im still not into the whole wires around the house thing... see my room is a mini-theatre now.... and i am having trouble right now with wiring and the like... i need to get down to some fabricating and rerouting wires so that it all works... and with my current surround sound setup i dont like the speaker wire lengths.... especially because i mount it behind my viewing spot... so i had to take the rear wire speakers and use them on the front and vice versa... which still barely works.... i just put 280 dollars into my Pioneer se-dir800c headphones.... and they do a good surround sound imitation... but in games they dont truly cut it sadly.... I was hoping they would... When I do speaker testing I just can't differentiate from from rear.... but what did I expect from headphones with only 1 driver per side.... ah well.... i must ask why you picked the z-5500s... and logitech for that matter. i have never looked into pc speakers. and logitech is a HID company to me.... so tell me what it was... price.. functionality.. both... i will look into them now... but i assume that logitech has several models

edit: omfg... ok now i recall... they have the wireless speakers for rear... can i reverse that... if so i'm fucking sold... especially if the wall mount is directional...so i can put them on my left and right wall and angle them to the viewing point...

Wow, im sooo jealous lol, there are 2 computers in my house, the families desktop with sound coming from onboard through to speakers built into a hp lcd monitor.

And a dell inspiron 6000 laptop.

Man I can sooo imagine how much nicer your system sounds *cries*.

(btw is there a way to hook up a laptop to output 5.1??)

Also btw, isnt having wireless speakers a bad thing? since a lot of the nuances of the sound quality is lost through the wireless connection? this is what all those high quality cable manufacturers bang on about (linking to the monster quesry earlier on in the post)

Hmm kempez i just checked that out, it actually seems pretty good. Thanks for the info.

BTW does anyone know if there are plans to release an X-Fi pcmcia card any time soon?

thanks

highly doubt you'll see a pcmcia x-fi... the audigy 2 notebook was surprising enough... creative doesnt like their R&D teams to work on anything that doesnt rack in hard cash....

finally

after loads of bullshit and emails the card is finally out. the x-plosion will be released officially monday... but iocombo.com is selling them starting today... after some begging and high handling charges i got them to ship it out today via UPS(blech) overnight... it will arrive tomorrow... the future is here!!!! looking forward to some true digital discrete 5.1 via DTS...

pwnage, how much did it set ya back mate, i gotta get me one :D

to get guaranteed sameday shipping with overnight delivery 3 hours prior to closing i had to pay extortionist handling costs so it totally out to 211.90 i paid.. but i love this fuggin card so i dont care.

dont order from iocombo.com though... they suck ass... and they seem unable to ship via fedex... and from the resellerratings.com reviews... ioCombo.com personifies unreliability.
