New Rig

Hey guys,

Just about to make a new rig for work and gaming, gunna canabalise pieces out of my old rig for this and just looking for some thoughts and opinions to see if a second pair of eyes can see any shortfalls in the proposed rig.

What i propose is this:

NZXT Switch 810

Rampage IV Extreme

Intel 3930K

2x EVGA GTX 670 SC 2GB (already have)

AX850 with Red Cables (already have)

2x 240 Corsair Force3 GT Raid0 (already have)

1x OCZ 60gb Vertex 3 boot drive (already have)

16gb Corsair Dominator

Right this is where im looking at needing help, i want to put an 80mm Alphacool nexxos 360 rad in the roof of the Switch, which after watching toms video i think will work with a set of fans in the roof pulling air out the top. The doubt i have is that never having worked with an 80mm rad will there be enough air moving through that monster rad with just one set of fans, looking at noctua NF-F12s. Also looking at using an 80mm 240 in the bottom with the same fans. the loop will be used to cool the two GPU's (when the blocks are available, seen some shots of early samples) and the processor at about 4.5ghz but we'll have to look at what voltages that needs, may also look at cooling the MB just because the koolance blocks look great. Also, would the Alphacool res with the two pumps be enough (DC-LT)? with the two pumps it puts the flow rate at about 240 lph or should i be looking at the alphacool res with the D5 in the back? sorry for al the questions, just never built something to this scale before, normally just cpu cooling for me

You should be fine at 4.5ghz on the 3930k voltage wise. I have mine at 4.6ghz at 1.336 volts on load so you should be fine to run it at 4.5.

Sorry I cant help out with the water cooling.

For 3 blocks and 2 thick rads, you'll probably have to go with the D5 set up.

Also, a 60mm thick rad in the roof should cut it fine. 1 60mm thick 360 can normally handle a cpu and gpu. So the extra 240, 80mm thick rad in the floor will easily take the strain of the 1 more 670, with headroom as well, so you'd be absolutely fine with a 60 in the roof.

Also, you expecting to mount the 240mm in the floor or the front? Not 100% sure but if it's in the bottom it may intrude on the motherboard. The front will make for a cleaner loop, but will mean you'd have to take both hard drive cages out.

measuring it, it should just fit but we'll see, ill get the mobo before the rads anyway just to measure up myself, im more concerned with rads at this stage as temps are vital as where i have my computer is in the eves of the house, hot and stuff up there but its the only place theres room for it

I just built a rig with a NZXT Switch 810 and Rampage IV Extreme. I put a 60mm rad in the bottom with push pull and and there is room. An 80mm should fit fine I reckon. Here is a photo to show the room you will have

2 pumps do not double the flow rate, they double the pressure. I would go for 1 D5 (or maybe 2 for redundancy). The D5 is around 1000L/hr depending on speed you run it at.

Also loose the raid 0, it has only drawbacks.

You could fit a 80mm radiator in the top above the mobo, pending your mosfet heatsink isn't some ungodly obstruction. However, I would advise going with a 60mm, as I think a 80mm would be a bit of overkill.

For a pump, definitely go D5. Chicks dig D5's with Bitspower kits on them.

Liking the looks, but that tube going diagonal up from the rad to the res keeps drawing my eye.

Any way to route it so it turns a 90 degree as per your other tubes?

basically got everything together now apart from the res/pump and the case, looking like a toss up between the switch 810 and the ShinobiXL BUT, i MAY go for some TJ11 insanity, what do you guys think?
As for the res and pump. Ive used the Alphacool rads in the past and loved them, so ive bought another two, i would like to use the Alphacool dual res that mounts D5's but i personally know no one thats used them, i know XSPC do this configuration also, so is that any difference between the two make pump wise?

Possible to use a 45 degree on the underside of the GPU and bottom rad? Also, how about a spacer on the bottom rad then a 45 degree off the port going to the res? CPU block going into motherboard blocks looks awesome.

indeed i am gunna be doing a lot of photoshop and video rendering, do a lot of work with adobe premier pro and afteraffects

ok basically ive had to rethink this, just got word today of a new job! (YAY) but....
it means im gunna be living off my wages for two months till ive finished training, so the plan is to mod the 650D i have now.

this is the rig as it currently stands.
ignore the color scheme in a blue and black to red and black transition whilst deciding on what board to go for, probs the maximus V formula whenver they release it.

as you can see there isnt much room to expand the rad to a 60mm, i am using an alphacool ut45 atm.
so onto the plan, thinking im gunna mod the roof and the hotswap hatch to fit a 45mm thick Alphacool 360 rad in the roof and then chop up the drivebays to fit a monsta or 60mm rad in the front, OR take the easy option of the phobya 200mm rad.
probably gunna have to get some mesh and totally do the roof on my own after the cuts as hight levels vary, will probably cut away the whole sunken section of the roof.
any thoughts apprieciated.
