New rig time

Well guys, after thinking about a minor upgrade, a new job reckons its time to go for my first all bells and whistles system. I will be ordering most parts from OcUk and here is my current Build

Intel e8400

P5Q-E

4870X2

3 x WD 320 Blue

800w Coolermaster PSU

4 GIG OCZ PC-8500

From X-case the Aplus Black Pearl

My cooling will be h20, so i was wondering the best stuff to use for my cpu to begin with, but would allow for a GPU / NB water block in the future, if you have any suggestions let me know, as i dont mind going to another supplier for different Water cooling components. Please bear in mind they have to fit / mount in my case with minimal modifications

Can't help you with the water cooling, I'll leave someone else answer that.

Personally unless you're going to be gaming on a 30' monitor I would not get the HD4870X2, the GTX 260 or the regular HD4870 would be a better option.

Don't buy a new rig now, intels new i7 is out this month which will cause the price of all old cpus and mobos to fall...

Everything else looks nice.

W/c - depending on your case size, you will want a tripple rad for cpu/gpu/nb, or maybe a pa120.2 could handle it... Ddc ultra is an awesome pump (mine has been going strong for 2 years no issues) and just pick whatever res/fans you like!

If you are going for a cpu, nb & gpu in 1 loop, get a low restriction blocks, e.g. XSPC Edge & Delta Chipset.

Looks pretty good to me, just make sure you get the 320gb platter WD HD's.

Hey guys, thanks for your replys, ill be gaming on a 28" screen, and i want all the candy, and from what i have seen, a regular 260 or 4870 just cant cut it at 1900x1200 as well as the big card can. I wont be buying until early next month, so we will definatly see a nice drop in the price of my system

Yeps, I`m gonna stick with 775 til it`s unpractical. Jeezs that could be ages >.<

U just know they`ll introduce something like pcie3.0, or ddr4 to force people onto it.

P5Q-E is a great board, but the build quality on some of the bundled components is a little suspect if you ask me. I had to pick out the plastic on the little front panel connector with a needle before i could get it to go onto the pins on the board and it was still really awkward, I had to apply significant force.

The slot placement is excellent though, with both a PCI-e x1 and PCI above the primary graphics card slot meaning that you can put in a soundcard without worrying about it interfering with the cooling on your gfx card.

I have OCZ ram in my board and I know people say they don't get on with ASUS motherboards, but it hasn't caused me any problems yet [I'm using PC2-8000 ReaperX HPC in a 2*2GB config].

Also I'd go for SCAN rather than OCUK, they can work out cheaper and you'll be better off if anything goes wrong.
