Pffft well excuse me. I love American muscle cars and dream of one day owning a Shelby Mustang GT 500 (In reality I probably never will but hey :D).

cant say they're my fave type of car

but it does look nice

what i'd love to see, is an american, take such a car, replace the engine and steering in it, for somthing more efficient, and that can turn corners respectively, then you'd have a fast, nice, and useable car.....

just my thought..

Beautiful car PP. I'd love to have the room to have a project car but around here I'm lucky to fit mine and the missus lil cars.

A friend who lives down the road from me has a Shelby Mustang with the GT500 series kit on it. Its a wonderful car to own, the feeling while driving is brilliant but it has flaws. Handles like a tank, drinks fuel faster than ANY car (including a 700bhp trackcar) I have known, bumps are not your worry its the next bump that sends anyone taller than 6ft straight into the roof thats the problem.

Here is the part that you will like. It cost him bugger all to buy and source the GT500 parts. Its cheap to insure (last year £600). You just gotta be prepared for the GIANT fuel costs.

Not quite anymore. Gas costs about $4/gallon nowadays. Granted, that's still a fair bit less than you guys, but several years ago it was close to a quarter of that. Guy at my previous job had a picture of a gas price sign in his cubicle with the price showing $1.14/gallon

we pay 1.13 a litere, more in some places, that works out to

£5.13 per gallon

or $10.26 a gallon in your money

so...your rather lucky...

IIRC, the price for a gallon in England is £5/$10.

Consider yourselves lucky.

Back on topic - I've always wanted to own a GT500. Just something about 'Gone in 60 seconds' that amazed me. :p

EDIT - Damn Ionicle, you beat me to it! :p

i wouldn't mind having any of these three: Dodge Charger, Dodge Challenger, Shelby GT500 or all three of them.

Well the engine thats in it right now is a freakin dog. 460 big block. The problem with it is the interrior is shabby and it needs new push rods and a full new intake. Im going to get it, and take the engine out and replace it with a Boss 302 or 428 Cobra Jet.

There is a company here that takes the suspension out of older cars and replaces them with modern suspensions. They where selling a 1967 GT500 with a 427 with a new age suspension for 100grand. Its like i have always said in the ricer vs muscle arguments. If we put the same amount into our suspension that yall put into your engine to go as fast as us wed still have you beat cause wed just change out the intake and exaust and we go even faster lol AND we can take corners. I still like me some M3 and Aston Martin though.

When i was at the guys house next to the car i was gonna take some pics but then rememberd my phone is still bricked. Which is a pita >=( It dosent look that bad actualy for being out in the open all the time. Rust is to a minimal as well. The interrior just loks like crap and that engine deff needs to be replaced with something with alot less suck in it.

i'd still take somthing like an evo 8, or a Vtec type R honda civic over anything american anyday...

just my choise though..

says me who drives a vauxhall corsa, and ofcorse vauxhall is owened by opel, which is owned by GMC ....

i'd love a rover, just summet british, be patriotic for once

i'm hoping you wont be getting a live rear axel or anything else archayic for this car, treat each wheel differently, then get an engine that isnt some heffing great 4.7 litere V8 or any other super power like that

get somthing like a 1.6 streight 4 or 6, and tune it

honda civic engine, 1.6 litere, my friend got 240 BHP out of

it can be done...

.....get a 4 banger or I6? Are you nuts? This is a 73 Mach1 built for power. I dont do ricers man sorry. Im gonna get either a Boss 302 or a 428 Cobra Jet. Gonna have a posi 9" rear with a 5 speed standard. I havent decided whether im going Carter 8 pack or Holley double pumpers.

COR!! My fave type of car is american muscle.. just cannot get over the sound and the shape.

Have you got the car PP? :)

My plan is to do up my Corolla (little toyota) with an engine (and drivetrain/suspension/interior) swap. I had my eye on a tuned LS7 crate engine (C6 Z06 7.0L V8) for $22000, when I have that kind of money I might indulge, to create the fastest Q car ever.

No not yet. Ive only went to look at it. The guy is trying to decide if he still wants to give it to me for the price he quoted online. Im guessing because i told him my age he didnt expect me to be there the day after with cash in hand. But since i know he MUST be off his land by the middle of October he will most likely almost give it to me.

Cool thing is, im still friends with one of my exs and her dad owns a muffler shop. (Ive done some PC work for him actualy) Hes gonna cut me a good deal on anything he does to it. So basicaly i know that anything from the engine back is gonna be solid and sweet. Flowmaster Delta 40s anybody?? :worship:

Ahaha freakin crap!! Are you seriously gonna put that monster in that Toyota?

that would be awsome in a toyota, a car that can take corners, and has modern suspension, with some power...

although, i'm still for taking smaller engines, take a 2 litere streight 4, and tune tune tune!

Meh. Don't assume every person who wants a Japanese car is a ricer. Just incase you haven't noticed, Ricers have invaded American Muscle. Infact, they've invaded pretty much all car types.
