New PC freezing up, mouse/keyboard become very laggy

Hi there, got my new PC built this morning and it seems a stuck pixel in my X2420T was just the first disappointment (BenQ have 14 day perfect pixel warranty, though).

What's happening is; Windows is freezing/locking up, but it's not completely frozen, if I move the mouse, the cursor will jump around a few seconds after.

The keyboard also has delayed input, but not everything will register, for example if I hit the Windows key, the start menu never shows.

This also happened during Windows install, so it can't be GPU drivers or something that gets installed later.

I updated to latest BIOS, but it's still doing the same thing.

I'm currently running memtest v4.2, it's been running for 1 hour 20 minutes, now and hasn't yet displayed any errors.
Looking at memtest though, the RAM is apparently running at 11-11-11-28, when the specs say it should be 9-9-9-24, but if memtest passes, could this be an issue?
I can change it in the BIOS and try it anyway.

Should I be using any special settings in the BIOS to accommodate a certain piece of hardware?

Here are my specs:

ASRock Z77 Fatal1ty Pro
3570K
16GB G.Skill 4*4GB 1600MHz
ASUS DirectCU II GTX 670
Intel 520 series 120GB SSD
Corsair AX750
WD Green (not formatted yet)

Any help/ideas very much appreciated.

Thank you.

Try with only 2 ramsticks installed.Lookup in the manual where to install these 2 correctly.
Then boot into bios and set them at rated specs.
You could load "optimized default settings" before you do so.

I'll try this when memtest is done. Memtest is 90% through a second pass, with no errors. I'll let it finish this second pass.

have u checked temperatures?

One of the first things I did when booted was ran IBT. I set it to maximum (something like 15GB RAM) so it was taking forever and didn't finish a pass before I said balls to that and closed it. Core temps were ~14-24 at idle and load was 45-52 (bit of a different across the cores, I wonder if this is due to me rotating the H80 pump/block 90 degrees).

Haven't run anything strenuous on the GPU yet, but I ran the 670 in my old rig, temps were low.

Nothing is overclocked.

done any windows update to get the latest drivers for all the devices?
if not the do an update and tell us

Well I went to do Windows update and it seems I can't even do that without problems. I get '800f081f' error code when I try to do so.

Something I think may be relevant is the issue I've had with the Corsair H80.

If you go to this post I made on overclock.net in a H80 thread, you'll see the my full post.

But basically, I've discovered that my H80 makes a periodic rattle when run off my Corsair AX750 (which I got for new build) but when run off my old Antec True Power 650, it does not make any rattling sounds.

Another person replied in the thread saying he'd experienced something similar and it may be due to the higher efficiency supplying just a bit too many volts for the pump.
Kind of makes sense to me, but I'm no wizard in this area. What are some thoughts on this?

Now before I knew this, I thought maybe the AX750 was faulty, so I ran my new rig of my old TP650.
Unfortunately, the PC is still freezing, but much less frequently. I really can't make sense of this.

This really is this most frustrating and disappointing build I've ever done. :(
Stuck pixel on my display, rattling H80, freezes and now update problems, god damn, I hope I get some luck soon.

It's late now so the Windows Update issue is going to have to wait till tomorrow.
I've downloaded all the latest drivers from ASRock which I'll install tomorrow. Plus I downloaded the Intel firmware update tool for my SSD, I'll also use that tomorrow.

Anyway, thank you very much for all the help thus far.

Quick update before I go to bed; I removed all the sleeved Bitfenix extension cables from my build (8-pin for CPU, 24-pin for mobo and 2* 6-pin for GPU), and my PC has now been on for 36 minutes without a crash or anything, I've even done a couple of IBT runs (standard).

Still running off TP650.

Hmm... Anyone ever known extension cables (maybe one of them is faulty) to cause something like this

I am however using the 8-pin extension that came with my Switch 810 as the cable was just a bit short on my TP650 to reach from where it's sitting.

Ok thanks guys now I must go to bed.

Ok, running off AX750 without the extensions (except for the NZXT CPU one), got all my memory in (running at the rated 9-9-9-24) and it's no longer freezing (have run both IBT and Heaven a few times).
So either one of the cables is faulty or I hadn't connected it properly (probably the latter...).

This is good, however now I have to figure out why Windows update isn't working.

The issue with the H80 seems to be that the AX750 is giving just a tiny bit too many volts.
The TP650 runs a solid 12v on the 12v rail, however the AX750 runs 12.1v on the 12v rail, which seems to be what is causing the H80 pump to rattle.

Any ideas on how I can reduce the voltage between the molex and the H80 just enough to stop if from rattling?

Re-installing Windows has fixed the update problem and I'm going to get the cooler replaced.
