I thougth I'd make a seperate thread for this question. My brother is gonna pick up a new AM3+ motherboard and we're looking at what he should get. We're currently trying to choose between the Asus Crosshair V Formula, Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD7 and the Asus Sabertooth 990FX. Which ones of these should he get and if you got another suggestion, please feel free to share.

Hi Bud,

The answer really depends on what you want to do with it.

I had the same choice a few weeks back and took the Crosshair V 990fx. I got it from YoYotech (google em) they were really really good and one of a few that has this motherboard.

The Sabertooth is a really good board, however I really don't think it stacks up against the Crosshair.

There is a good review of the Crosshair V on OC3D :0).

I don't really know much about the Gigabyte board but Gigabyte themselves are one of the best out there so anything with their name on it won't be a load of cogswollop.

I really would say go with the Crosshair V, it looks the part and overclocks really well with a whole bunch of cool features right up to the "one button" overclocking.

hope this helps :0)

I have the Sabertooth 990fx and its a pretty damn solid board. One of my favorite that I have used, got my 1090T at 4.2 ghz stable no problem. Also supports 3 way SLI and Xfire so you are set on both of those. Only downside I can think of is that the board only supports 1866 speed memory. But that's it.

Out of those three, I'd go for the CHV
