Ok, I`ve got a 19" iiyama crt monitor atm, and for the pffft 5years? I`ve had it, it`s been a tremendous purchase.
Usually I`ve got it 1280x1024, and the picture is terrific - however, a while back I notice a ray dot right in the center of the screen. It`s black and unless I point it out, u wouldn`t notice - I know it`s there tho, and it`s staring at me right now. A few days ago I noticed it`s got a smaller m8 just off it.
Syncs upto a resolution of 2048+ (or something) nice and easy.
Now, I keep getting mail shots from retailers "blah blah blah monitor" and I look at the specs of their tremendous flat screen monitors and they`re say 800 x 600 - crap tv like I`d asume, probably why they`re blagging them out on emails. So I dig a little deeper and the `nicer` monitors quote 1024x768, up to 1280x1024.. 17".. erm why they so low ? I look at the widescreen ones, although I don`t like widescreen monitors - but u never know, and they have some crappy resolution of like 1228x936 (can`t remember exact numbers).
This is bugging me - are we still stuck in a situation where the affordable - i.e. `value`, monitors are doing really low resolutions ? U get a 15.1" flat thing that does 1024x768, u look at it`s bigger brother - 17" 1024x768... no hang on a minute, u mean u`r using the same 1024x768 technology but are increasing the size of the polorize shizzle and palming it off as a bigger screen. (This is why u see so many crappy flat screens with blocks on the playback 1 pixel = 4 sorta thing)
How much do u have to spend to either have a] a CRT monitor 19" and syncs to 2000+ b] a flatscreen that does over 1600+ ?
