New Monitor, Suggestions?

Hi guys its been a long time since Ive been on here, hope your all well.

Ive been thinking about getting a new monitor for my Pc and im not sure what to get. When i first started looking i was looking into 3D mainly but im not 100% sure that is the best choice. The main use will be gaming.

my price limit is about £500 but ide rather it be around £400 if not below that. What have all of you had good experiences with (Brands,Models,Techs)?

Specs are in sig if you could consider this

BenQ XL2420T 120Hz 24 inch..price is around 300£
 
Dell U2410 would be my choice. I have one and it is fantastic. Colours are amazing (Whitest whites, deepest blacks, etc). The response time is very good for an IPS and there is no visible ghosting or input lag when playing relatively fast paced games like BF3. It's 1920 x 1200 so you do get the infamous black bars on some games, but it's not really an issue to be fair.

I've had the monitor for nearly a year and a half and it has not let me down yet (touch wood). There are other IPS panel monitors, but since I have a U2410, this is really the only monitor I could suggest :D

Yes ive seen a few monitors with IPS around and heard good things. not really researched into it that much. would you advise away from 3D then?
 
BenQ are fine yeah...

I am with Yassar though - you should go with the Dell. High res IPS screens are better than gimmicky 3D and 120hz screens.

yes sir my previous benq monitor is 4-5years old now still works like a day i bought it, im using the XL2420T myself but im not a expert im just a gamer^_^

I've not tried 3D, so I can't advise you away from 3D if you want to go down that route. All I'm saying is that the picture quality on an IPS panel monitor is second to none (from my experience) and for gaming purposes they are more than adequate. With the Dell you'll be getting the best of both worlds. Awesome picture quality and not bad at all for gaming.

I've had a few forum members (2 to be exact) PM me about the Dell U2410 and I've given them the same advice. They ended up purchasing the monitor and they couldn't be more happy.
 
My mate has the smaller U2310 and I can confirm the picture quality is fantastic. The design has a nice simple feel to it too, it looks really smart.
 
Also worth checking out iiyama monitors. I have the prolite X2377HDS IPS monitor and am very happy with it. I'm sure there's a newer version out now which will be just as good if not better
 
I do like to clean look of that dell U2410 to be honest, its rare you find a normal professional looking design now. I feel every company almost tries too hard to have some futuristic design.

Asus is releasing a 144hz 1080p 24'' monitor in february, expected MSRP is 280$. Does not come with the 3D-vision stuff so that's how they keep the cost down, right now the cheapest 120hz monitors are 350$. If you have a powerful system that gets over 60fps in games i would strongly suggest waiting for this monitor :)

Colours and image quality won't be as good as an IPS panel monitor. 60 FPS is good enough for most people. Sure, 144Hz may make the movement more fluid, but to play at that level you need a pretty mad setup.
