So ill introduce myself My name is Jeremy i am 25, i am a inexperienced overclocker but have had fun doing the little things i've done. I am not really looking to overclock much but to have a good system for a good price, but also I am much into learning more about it. Here is a list of what i have looked at so far.

Not sure about the lack of the Northbridge Multiplier If this has much to do with me sense i will not be overclocking. But I thought i read someplace if i want to unlock extra cores I need this, what are the benefits of this. I am mainly a gamer, programmer. I read that games don't need but the 2 cores so is this necessary ?

Which one would be the best for me in you all's opinion

I know one has more L3 Cache and one 95w vs 80w But on other hand one has larger l2 capabilities. can someone in brief detail tell me which i want bigger for performance in gaming?

If I have no need to unlock my extra cores will this mobo do? If not can i have some suggestions for a mobo in the same price range ( 100$ usd ) Also I am interested in doing some overclocking so if you could point me in the direction also for one thats in the same price range.

Thanks guys in advance! I dont need a onboard video chip set i have a GTX460 so if i choose a mobo with one would this hurt me ?

If at all possible steer clear of Biostar! and I've also not had great success with ASROCK!

ASUS, MSI or Gigabyte would be your best options if you are set on the 100 dollar mark there are great boards to be had also in the M-ATX variant if you are just planning on running a single 460.

Well if you have your heart set on AMD just make sure to get a board with ACC if you are getting the X2 Phenom 2. At least then you have a chance of unlocking the cores.

However, do know that the I3 is $114.99 shipped and a Gigabyte UD2 H55 (not the P) is currently $84.99 and will eat the AMD range at those prices for breakfast, easily hitting a 24/7 4ghz on a decent cooler.

Which is an I3 without hyperthreading. All of which are faster than all of the chips you are looking at and cost very little more.
 
Id get the Asus 870 and the Phenom cpu dude, just team that up with some 1600 memory with tight timings, we all like mushkin here atm. Id also suggest getting a decent cpu cooler but it all really depends if you want to overclock or not?
 
I'd get Phenom and some good 870 board too, but apparently it would be a mistake so I am not expected to post any more suggestions here

. Even though I am an Intel fanboy, in this case (low budget, obviously) I'd go with x2 (possibly unlockable to x4) Phenom, rather than x2 Intel.
 
I3 has hyperthreading and runs all day long at 4-4.2ghz. You won't get those clocks out of an AMD.

I3 is also a much newer tech, but, if you have your mind made up then I suppose go for it.
 
Thats a 125W cpu so you will need a GOOD aftermarket cooler to budget on aswell.

Alien is right about the i3, but if you deffo want amd Id buy the asus and the dual core phenom and hope the asus mobo will unlock a core or two.
 
Aye the Callisto is basically a Deneb with two cores disabled. Whether those cores were locked to make numbers or because they were buggered? dunno. IIRC it's a 945 or 950, something like that. The 940 was DDR2 only so it has to be one of those.

They ate the same wattage as mine and nothing I ever put on it could get the temps down. Right now mine is happily chewing through 150w @ 3800mhz.

So if you want it anywhere near that clock wise then it's going to have to be a NH-D14 I'm afraid. (Sorry if I sound too much like a fanboy, but I am

Nothing else I used even came within 6c of this thing. I would try the cores first on the stock cooler. If you can get them unlocked and they work then strongly consider a NH-D14 because it will turn it into a different CPU. Obs with two cores it's not going to be worth sinking $80 or so, but if you get the other half of the CPU free it could well be worth it for the astronomical clocks the D14 allows it to reach

Oh also. I can't offer anything in the way of Gigabyte on AMD sadly. What I do know after going through about four AMD boards with my CPU (Crossfire, SLI board etc) is that the Asus dominates. The overclocking is so easy and there are absolutely masses of settings. I know Gigabyte do make a lovely board so I would say go with whoever is the cheapest and offers the bigger bios feature set

Just dew to Micro Center having a good price doesn't make me lean towards them. Have you dealt with them on returns ? They want to charge you a 20$ tax on 300$ that makes up for the price difference when you get up to 400$ compared to new egg. I'm not saying they are bad. Just some hands on experience dealing with them ?

I believe this will be my new setup. I have a question though Has anyone had any problems dealing with Micro center ? They have a package deal im thinking of using I have been faithful to NewEgg dew to the customer care. I have been given 100$ worth of gift cards dew to one issue so i know they will resolve anything I need done!

Please Give me some pointers here guys!!

Another thing if im not going to be overclocking. Do i need a aftermarket CPU Heatsink/Fan ? After i get some more Money i will get one so i can overclock.
 
what are you talking bro... that will be a 75$ dollar jump I am getting a bundle which both mobo and cpu is only 209.

No sli or crossfire isnt important to me. I dont have much to get another video card will i ever have that much money to invest into my graphics
 
In your link with the list of all of them is a 1055T with a single PCIE MSI. Board looks good and MSI are fantastic overclockers.
