This is a bit late as I have already posted some reviews and my build, but here it goes.

I'm a video editor/photographer/other from the Midwest who's also obsessed with computers. I've followed TimeToLiveCustoms on YouTube for a while and after seeing the video of Tom and his infection (Hope he's doing better!) I decided to join the forum.

It started when I became interested in video editing. Since video editing requires pretty powerful hardware, I always wanted to research the best options for the job. I became well versed in pre-built options and major components. I also learned a lot about troubleshooting computers, because I never had the money to pay others to do the work for me.

I helped the local technical school I was attending configure and set up an entire classroom of editing rigs, and I have also been the families tech support since before I can remember. I had replaced many components and worked on many systems, but up until the beginning of this year I had never actually built a computer from the ground up.

That's when I started the obsession. I'm the kind of person who will research a toaster before buying it. I spent about two weeks scouring the web for information, and eventually came up with my rig. Now another thing that affected my build was the fact that I can be cheap at times, and I found out quickly after that I should've just spend the extra few bucks on some better components like the motherboard and graphics card. They work extremely well but they could've been better for just a bit more. It's been a lesson learned, and I never make small compromises like that anymore.

After I built my first computer, I kept doing research. I kept going to forums and posting on reddit. I Just couldn't stop. Over a few months I went from a pretty good basic knowledge of components to more information that I sometimes think my brain can hold.

I built a second computer, a Haswell gaming rig for a friend. That's when I decided to work on my build a little and make it look nice.

After that I did more and more research of course, and contributed a lot to /r/buildapc and /r/buildapcforme. Now I have become a Moderator on /r/buildapcforme and regularly help lots of users pick out parts for there first builds.

Though I love being a video editor, doing product photography, and other creative things, computer consulting/building/reviews have become a seriously big part of what I do on a daily basis. I'm itching to play with new hardware, build new systems big and small, or even just help someone pick parts.

I hope to one day make some sort of income off of my knowledge and skills when it comes to computers, whether it's by repairing PC's, doing custom PC consulting/building, hardware reviews, really anything.
