I just got done talking to a contractor that's been coming in my store for almost a year now and finally got to bs'ing with him about what he does. Well little did I know that the giant 20 acre building being built a mile away from my house is a new MS data center! This guy works for Black Box and is handling all of the internal network cabling for the building.
From what he's told me the building is already piped with THREE, yes THREE OC-192 backbones. I about fell over when I heard that shit.
The building was originall built for AOL 3 years ago but they backed out when the market crashed. So just a year ago or so MS snatched it up for themselves. What the guy told me was that MS will primarily be using the center for hotmail, msn, and their other online services.
I want to see a show of hands here... How many people think I should try and get a job at the new datacenter? *raises hand*
W00t w00t! Me wants to work in the midst of millions of dollars in servers and unlimited bandwidth
