New Keyboard Advice

Also I use a Logitech G710+. Absolutly incredible keyboard! If you have the money that is.

£150 and no N-Key rollover... very much paying for a brand there... yikes.

I assume it must be using black switches since they aren't specifically mentioned (at least I can't find it mentioned) and it says silent with rubber washers (suggesting either red or black). It mentions actuation force but I can't remember if that is black or red off the top of my head.

Saying that, are they even cherry switches? Knowing Logi it's probably some proprietary switch technology that will invariably 'last longer' (usage dependent). :P

They are browns.

The keycaps are awful on that board imo.

I thought browns are tactile clicky ones? Logi spec page says no sound ?

I agree on the keycaps, if they're see-through they're the usual easy-wear plastic as well. I'll be replacing mine in due-course due to the wasd keys shining off a bit.

Browns do not click like blue, but they due have some tactile feedback which is inaudible. They sound identical to reds/blacks.

Logitech say they've also dampened the keys to prevent the general mechanical keyboard 'clack' sound.

The VAST majority of $150 mechanicals do not have N-key rollover and it uses MX browns. Also it has every media function key as well as 18 programmable profiles, again something most $150 mechanicals do not have. Oh and USB 2.0 pass through.

For the record a K90 has all that ~$110

I also own a K90, it is a fantastic keyboard. But it is also not 100% mechanical. Granted only the important keys are but that is why it is ~$110 and not $150. And that is why the K95 is $150. I like Corsair but I much prefer MX brown over red, also the Corsair software SUCKS!!!!

And the caps on them are fine. I have had the 710+ when it first came out day one, and have been heavily playing on it and none of the caps are showing any kind of problems (no shiny keys)

Yeah that's true I did forget about it not being fully mechanical and the software is shocking.

I dont get the whole "N-key rollover" craze. How many times have you been playing a game and needed to press 15 keys at once? Hell, how many times have you had to press more than 3 at once? The Logitech board has 6 key rollover which is more than plenty. My G510 has 6 key and my BlackWidow has 2 but actually will do 5-6 depending on which keys and Ive never had an issue with needing more keys to register.

The G710+ has 26 key roll over :P

I go to say though. I just to my K90 back out, and I like the feel of the caps themselves, but I am not worried about the Logitech ones at all.

What problems exactly did you have with the Corsair software? I had absolutely no problems with mine - found it a pleasure to use actually.

I'm typing this on the Q-pad now - it actually feels really nice! I don't even find it too loud. Probably about the same as my K90, but I did type very heavy handed, so reds make a lot of noise if you press down hard, whilst the noise on these doesn't really change. It's obviously a much higher pitched 'click' on here, but I wouldn't say it was louder tbh.

N-Key is invaluable if you fly keyboard in games (which I do) wasd for yaw and thrust, arrow keys for pitch and roll, and then ctrl, space, alt, e etc etc etc.. list goes on.
It's my personal preference, you don't need to launch into a tyraid of how you don't understand why anyone would need it. I do, I paid for it, I'm happy. Certainly not another case of being so called 'stupid'.

Yeah 26 is fine really, I didn't really equate that to the correct amount (every letter at least) it actually is so fair enough, just seems daft why they don't just chuck it all the way up to every key...

I know I paid a premium to get the support for it via USB instead of PS2 as well. Again, I'm happy with this, I can't fault the keyboard and will probably pickup a blue switch one for typing as I'm *very* curious to try it. Glad to hear you're enjoying it James

Removing macros is not straight forward and you can't simulate mouse buttons. Those are the biggest issues for me.

But I also have a Razer BlackWidow and when I transferred over to the Corsair software, it didn't feel anywhere near as polished/user friendly.
