New hardware

You have no goddamn idea how annoying it is constantly working with new hardware and constantly installing new hardware

God I love this job *cough*

What I would do to be able to work with hardware more often.

Once a computer is built.. it stays that way for a few months.... lets be honest a working computer is a boring computer. :(

Nah, a working computer (like my main PC) is absolute bliss :)

It is hard to explain.. don't get me wrong a high performance working PC, which ticks over perfectly is bliss.

But the building of it was more fun. The working towards the finish piece is the best bit.

That is why your job rules.. don't take it to granted! :D

The result is the good bit. Assembling it is the good bit.

Its the stuff you can do anything about cos the hardwares so new the drivers are too immature to run for more than 5 mins.

This is why them among us have more than one PC. One runs 24/7 without a hicup, one get torn apart every other day :).

Yep pretty much. My main rig is a source of daily joy to me. It stays on, works and never goes wrong. Nothing crashes and nothing suddenly stops working no matter what I thow at it.

It's the one sitting in pieces beside me that I can't stand

/me takes the job off your hands

along with all the freebies and goodies to go with it

(and the cash)

I've got 1 fully working modern rig here (plus an old 1 for some legacy stuff) & 3 in bits ...

Think that I'm going to have to build a test station type thing rather than using cases.

!@!##%%^^&&*U%%####(mumbles away, chewing on own liver for a bit)

must be hard for you mate, all that work with spanking new equipment all the time!!!!!!

there again,If I got the chance to play with soooo much new stuff all the time I wouldnt be able to cope............theres no way I would be able to write the good reviews that you guys manage......so hats off to you fella, job well done(GOD that was painful to write)

I would love to have another computer to always be fiddling with. (im so bored, cant OC my CPU higher, cant put more volts and GPU is maxed out) but this Computer is also my work station that needs to be operating for my job.

If you have 2 computers then that's not so bad...

I can sympathise to an extent; having to review for example, a mobo which is nigh on identical to the last 10 you reviewed and having to find something interesting to say must get testing, or having to review the boring things such as fans or a mouse mat...

On the flip side there is the fun stuff, I love testing cpu's, gpu's and even ram, you get the latest and greatest to play with for free.

Things could be worse ;)

I know how you feel Kemp, I used to love fiddling with my computer but now I just hope it works fine. I work with computers every day at College and when I get home I just want mine to run trouble free.

If you consider running a series of overly lengthy benchmarks only to turn the results into pretty graphs and then return the hardware to the manufacturer "fun" :p

..but I ain't complaining, and Kemp should quit his girly grumbles too. [dig] just because he cant get a 3870 x2 to work[/dig]

*hides*

Love new kit.

Old kit - pita.

Always astonishes me how multi billion dollar corporations have crapier (per job done) pcs than the people who work there have at home.

The computer just isn`t respected enough !!

O but there are shiny Macs :) Never had to play with them outside of installing :(
