I have got about £230 left

can anyone recommend a good gpu?

your sincerely stupid drunk pratt

defiantly go 7950 and overclock it. You can almost get the same performance as a 7970

Silicon lottery mind, I grabbed one of the Club3D 7950's thinking that even if I couldn't hit TTL's OC on it, I'd at least get something approaching stock 7970 speeds, and I got a card that won't even take an extra 20MHz on the core without crapping out.

OP; the 7950 is a good card, but be prepared to accept the basic, on-the-box clocks for it, and if those don't do it for you, wait and save up for the 7970 again.

careful, now.. some cards can get there, not all. alot are grumbling about
barely getting 15% overclock and were directed itll overclock like a 7970 card.

the 7950 will be a great sustitute, but it isnt a 7970. so if you have to have
a 7970, save more money. if you think you can live with a lil less than the
7970, then get the 7950. prolly 15% less framerate speed. other than that
is quite similar between the two.

i can get the xfx or msi, ive seen Sapphire HD 7950 one on ebuyer for £208.97 with free Delivery!

the last thing i need is a cpu cooler h100i or wait for a TTL review on the nzxt kraken x60....

Well that's what you pay for in the first place... The base clock, and the base performance. Some people want their money back or want to swap their cards cause they don't overclock... well that is definitely not included in the price. You pay for the guaranteed base numbers, not the OC pottential which is based on .. luck mostly.

here is a test to see if the x60 will fit...
can you fit a 320mm radiator in the roof of the case? most cannot without major
roof reconstruction. the 52mm thickness (fans included) really isn't the issue.
the length is ooooggggge. mid towers will have to rip out the ODD cages. large
mid-towers and full can still have issues with motherboard clearances.
stay on H100/H100i for now unless you are skilled with power tools..

correct me if i am wrong, but there is a campaign for the roof panel to upgrade
for the x60, which you have to contact NZXT for.

NZXT said:
At the moment, NZXT’s Switch 810 will be the only case receiving revised top steel panels for native Kraken X60 support. If you already own a Switch 810 and wish to purchase an NZXT Kraken X60, you may contact NZXT Support (http://nzxt.com/support) for a free replacement. The revised steel panels utilize screws for its installation, allowing users to easily replace the top steel panel with a standard Phillips head screwdriver.

ohhh and thanks for that tid-bit of information... you having an 810 case...
