New Gaming Rig

Hi
I have had my current pc for 2.5 years now and have just come into a bit of money so thought it would be fun to just start again. The main use would be gaming however it would also need to be able to do some video rendering and run some mathematical simulations. My budget would be between £2500 - £3000 depending on if there is any advantage spending the extra cash. I don't need an operating system and i have my peripherals already.

My current pc is as follows;
mobo - msi P67A-GD55
cpu - intel i5 2500k 4.4GHz cooled by Be Quiet dark rock
ram - 2 x 4Gb Mushkin blackline
gpu - 2 x asus radeon hd 6870
psu - Antec 750W
ssd - 60Gb boot drive and 120Gb for storage
hdd - 1Tb wd green
case - silverstone raven 2 black

Any of these parts can be cannibalised. I do run a multi screen setup, 2-3 screens depending on space.
All help is greatly appreciated as you guys helped me build my current pc and it has been great :)
Thanks

What mathmetical software do you use? Does it benefit from certain technology such as OpenCl/Gl, or Cuda?

I would go for this
mobo - Msi GD65 Gaming
cpu - I7 4770k cooled by H100i
ram - 2 x 8gb ram sticks.. Really which is up to you. Not much with different ones.
gpu - 2 x 280x in crossfire, but then again depends on math software.
psu - Seasonic or Corsair PSUs of 750watts.
ssd - Samsung Pro 256gb for OS/Programs/Drivers. Then Samsung Evo 500/750/1tb for storage. Or just a regualr 1tb HD
case - Personal preference but i would go with a Fractal Design Arc Midi R2 for a h100i or a small custom loop. A bigger loop i would go with a Nzxt Switch 810 or Corsair 700d.

If you wanted a custom watercool build with this budget then by all means go for it!

with that kind of a budget he can do a whole lot more, i'd even consider 780ti sli and a 4930k, also i'd rather put in 4GB DIMMs, but 4 of them for aesthetic reasons and the performance edge, or 8 of them if he goes for x79. Waterloops are nice, but it cuts a good bit out of the budget and it seems like he is the kind of user who could benefit from x79.
also i guess you mean the 750d :)

Ya 750d.. damn numbers:p

Ya he has a bigger budget but he never really specified certain hardware requirements he would prefer. I just gave him something comparable to his previous rig and stayed with a non extreme cpu. If he desires to spend more than he can but my proposed option is plenty powerful enough.

Also if he has such a big budget then why be worried about custom watercooling? Shouldn't be a big deal:rolleyes:

well if he does a proper waterloop he will be a good bit down with his budget which probably wouldn't allow x79 and 780ti sli anymore. simulations need quite a bit of processing power, so i guess he favors that over a very neat looking build.
well, when properly done a rig with an AIO cooler can look pretty neat as well.

Ya they do. It's all up to what he really needs in the end. If he needs more horsepower than a 4770k then he can jump to x79 and 780ti SLI(or 290 Xfire flashed to 290x).
