New gaming rig

Hey guys! I'm currently building a new gaming rig and I would like your opinio,, but first, here's what I've chosen so far:

Asus P8Z68 Deluxe Gen3 + Intel i7-2600k + Noctua NH-D14 + G.Skill RipjawsX DDR3 1600MHZ 8GB + OCZ Vertex 3 120GB 2.5″ SATA III SSD (plus 2 WD I'm using now) + Corsair HX850 + CoolerMaster HAF X(nvidia edition). (OC and WC is something I'm looking up to, tho the WC system will just be installed in the summer)

The things I wanna ask are:

- I'm going to spend around 1500(euros). Do you think its a good build? or should I change something?

- also, what graphic card would you guys recommend? Many people have recommended me 2xEVGA GeForce GTX 560Ti 2GB, but afaik the 7950 can do much more and its about the same price. I know NVIDIA and AMD are releasing new cards in March, so I'm probably going to w8 until then, but if I bought all this stuff, do you think it would be a bad investment?

Wanna add that my screen just has a maximum resolution of 1680 x 1050 (samsung 2233rz), but I will be buying one new soon. Probably the new BenQ

Thank you very much.

Kind regards,

Welcome to OC3D

I would buy the best single card out atm and that is the 7970, which will give you the option of adding two more screens in the future if you want to. If you don't have the extra cash for the 7970, then the 7950 is the second best choice as you can OC them to perform as well as/better than a stock 7970 card.

Will you be doing much video/photo editing/rendering. If not, then many people will argue that the 2600K is really needed. For gaming purposes the 2500K is more than adequate. However if you also want to fold in the future the 2600K will give you more points

. Other than that it looks good

Yeah, it will be exclusive for gaming ^^ I think I prefer 2600k because, like you said, would be better in the long term and thats something I lookup to. Do you think the 7970 is worth its price?

tks for the fast reply btw!

The 7970 is to damm expencive. It should be 100£ less imo, and you could actually get 2x6970(almost) for same prize as one 7970. Prizes will fall soon, especially when Nvidia release their new cards. The overclocking potential is lovely though
