New Gaming Rig

Glad to help, PCCaseGear is one of the cheapest stores in Aus. Too bad they don't stock Mushkin anymore

:Quick thread hijack:

Yeah I noticed that Do you know where I can find some Mushkin RAM in Aus now that PC case gear doesn't have it?

and you wouldn't happen to know why they don't have it any more, is is just limited supply of it in Aus or they just stopped stocking it?

And i would suggest getting 2x 6970's or 2x 6950's over the 590 or 6990. As already said it will run cooler, Quieter and be able to over clock more, its the top of the line consumer cards at the moment.

When I get my stuff 95% of it will be bought from pccasegear as they are pretty cheap they even beat altec on alot of the pricing, but like i said the mushkin can be bought direct and from what i remember the prices when case gear sold mushkin aren't that different from direct.

I went onto the Mushkin website and they only ship in the US, so thats a negative unfortunately. I know that Arc.com sells them but not at the higher quality that most Pc enthusiasts want them so thats kinda a dead end also. The only other choice would either be Ebay or finding a place that can order them in.

I was considering to get the 6950's and unlocking the bios and overclocking them, but after seeing bench tests of Quad and Triple Crossfire, the noise generated by them is like a Jumbo jet taking off.. Exibit A

Single 6950

Doublo 6970

I not sure what the Asus DirectCu II Coolers are like but they look like they would run them cooler and not need to work as hard. Maybe look into them if you want some silence?

if any one has/used one feel free to butt in and voice your experience

Its a big cooler and you can get it on the 570, 580, 6950, 6970

Only thing is the cards take up 3 expansion slots each

Yea i was looking at them, But it taking up three spaces you wouldnt be able to manage a SLI on a small board. However i still have to more research on the MSI Big Bang but i beleive its every 2nd PCIe slot which i think would fit 3 of them.

Having a look at benches done with Single, Double, Triple and Quad GTX580's and they scale quite well, only down side is the power consumption, so still tossing up whether to get the Dual GTX590 or go GTX580 SLI. Pondering lol..

Im sorry Madbaron my mistake I didn't realise it was America only, I feel like a bit of a dope now

but I have just sent Mushkin an email about where to purchase their ram in Aus so when I hear from them I will let you know if you like.

That would be great, seems like G Skill and Mushkin are really the only two that have lower CL's on there memory, most of Corsair's are 9. Whether that makes much different in the overall scheme of things i wouldn't have a clue.

There are still quite a few places where you can buy Mushkin RAM. Such as:

-Umart

-iiBuy.com.au

-Megabuy

-Mwave Australia

Just to name a few. But I think it's just a low supply of Mushkin RAM, so after a while I would expect PCCaseGear to start selling them again. I heard they had some production problems recently and they'll probably restock the big companies such as Newegg before they start resupplying the Australian stores.

A nice site to check is StaticIce, it's like a search engine for computer parts.

Okay after alot more research and whatnot, this what i've got so far.

Case - Silverstone Temjin TJ11

Motherboard - MSI P67 Big-Bang Marshal B3

CPU - Intel i7 2600k

CPU Cooler - Noctua NH-D14

PSU - Corsair 1200w Modular

Memory - G.Skill Ripjaws X 1600MHz 7-8-7-24

GPU - 2x GTX580 SLI

Storage - OCZ Vertex 3, 2x WD Caviar Black HDD 1Tb

OS - Windows 7 64+ Ultimate

After talking with OCZ they are unsure if the Revodrive x2 would be compatible with the MSI Big Bang, so to skip that drama i've opted to go with a Normal SSD.

Until i'm able to find Mushkin that i'm wanting in australia, The Gskill will be it for now.

Choose the case, cause it gives me the option later for watercooling once i start to push my system more.

I was considering doing a video blog of the build with everything going into part by part lol

il see where i am when i have everything
