Yeh, dont get the 680s, get 670s.

tbf though - on one screen, 1 670 will max out the FPS of pretty much every game out there, so you dont need SLI at all really.

As for the RAM, drop to 1600mhz, you dont need anymore than that as it doesnt make any difference whatsoever in Windows.

Also, if you're insisting on a DVD drive - why are you getting a ROM drive and not RW?

Monitors that size arent really the best. You'd be better dropping to 23 or 24 inch and getting a really nice IPS screen.

Get an H100 over the thermaltacky. /end

With those changes, you can easily drop to an AX650.

So in total, I've just saved you about $1000? Maybe a little more. And it wont decrease performance in any way whatsoever.

I would suggest dropping down to a WD Caviar Blue and then with the money you save get a 60/64gb ssd for your boot drive

Edit : I see there is already an ssd in the list, in that case there is no point in getting the black and a blue will be just fine

If you want a 27" monitor you may as well get one with a resolution of 2560 x 1440. 1920 x 1080 on a screen that size will not look good.

Just read over the specs again and noticed you are going to get a 1tb Velociraptor. I would really advise you otherwise, the velociraptor is a mechanical hard drive that trys to offer near ssd performance, if you already have an ssd for boot and a few games etc then you will need nothing more than WD Blue drives

So made some changes how did I do

Thats better, but if this is a gaming rig then you don't need anyting more than 8gb of ram and also there is still no need for a WD Caviar black, the blue is just fine

Also - get an IPS monitor instead of LED.

And the 4gb version of the 670 has no benefit - drop it to the 2gb one, and get a better cooler on it

The monitors pretty good - as for the gpu though...

Unless your planning on watercooling, the EVGA card uses a reference cooler, meaning it'll be louder and wont perform as well. Go for a quieter dual fan cooler as you'll be able to overclock a lot better, and it'll be far far quieter

The other thing to consider is the mobo - if you like the looks of the sabertooth then fine but be aware that performance wise the z77 range is really even and you can get the same performance for a lot less on something like a MSI z77a-g45 or gd55 amongst other manufacturers.

wasn't thinking about overclocking the gpu because I read that the software wouldn't let you get any big gains and I'm firm on nvidea gpu's are there any with that in mind that you would recommend ?

I only went with this because I don't want Blue or red on my board

I don't know about 670's not overclocking that well, most Msi 670 power editions go up to at least 1300mhz on the core (provided you don't have a bad card)
