Hello there! I am doing a build. But I am not sure if everything is compatible or if there any bottlenecks to fix. This is my 3rd rig. So I am kinda new to this. But what are your thoughts on my setup and please tell me if there is anything you want to change.

I love the XFX R7970 Black Double Dissipation, so I will not change it out and I am going to do some water cooling later on and crossfire with the R7970 card when the price drops. It's a budget computer for about 2900 dollars.

Looks like a good shopping list.

I would change the PSU to something like a Corsair AX850, just for efficiency and reliability reasons.

Maybe go for the 2600K instead of the 2500K, for the extra Hyperthreading. The 2500K will do though for general and gaming use.

I would change your storage config though. Just get a normal 1 or 2 TB WD Black or Green, or a Samsung F3. Just some decent normal hard drive.

Then pair it up with lets a Corsair Force 3 SSD, or Kingston Hyper X SSD. I don't think going for the Velociraptor is reasonable.

Oh and one quick edit: Do you like the look of that case? Just saying

. There are better looking cases that will suit that build just fine.

Thanks! I was thinking the same as you! But the i7 2600k is not for me I think (And it's 136 dollars more than the 2500k or 800 Norwegian Kroner). Since I will mainly do gaming and chill on the net. And the velociraptor is cool! But it's a tad to pricy when you think of the storage.

If I was about to choose. WD or Seagate and why? I looked at this WD Caviar Black 1TB Dual Processor. Do I really need so much storage?

Btw, What do you think of the OCZ Vertex 3 120GB?

Thanks for the reply! And yes. I really like the case. What other case were you thinking of?

Hehe! I just checked the price if I go with the WD Caviar Black 1TB and Kingston Hyper X 120GB I reduced the price by nearly 500 Norwegian Kroner, Wich is alot! About 85 dollars! + I will get better speeds and storage!

I think Aurus pretty much said it all. That WD Black and Hyper X will serve you just fine!

The only thing I would probably change is the mobo, I think I'd go for the Maximus Extreme-Z instead.

Oh btw you wont need 850w that was suggested if you get a half decent PSU, even a good 650w (like Corsair AX) can power that no problems. Your motherboard is quite expensive, what do you need it for? It should be Z68 for that price!

I agree with you there. I just suggested the 850W version, because there is not much of a price difference between the AX 850, 750 and 650. I would advice for a nice Z68 Motherboard aswell.

How is my PSU? My motherboard, I got it for the ROG experience and a bit Overclocking. Any suggestions instead of what I choosed? I really like the Gigabyte UD4 boards and Asus boards.

I agree with you. Expensive and not even Z68. :/

Your PSU is decent, should do you fine - check outs its warranty and see that it's up to scratch though. Well if you've already got the mobo it'll do but if you haven't and are looking to save a bit of cash check out the ASRock Extreme3 Gen3. There are others with similar specs but the Extreme3 is very well priced so I usually recommend that. The Gigabyte UD4 boards look pretty good too.

Good luck with the build mate.

E: Just noticed you've picked out a Lycosa, you may want to do a bit of research - it's plagued with technical glitches. I had a friend buy one a month or two ago and his one has many problems. Apart from that I heard it's a good rubber dome keyboard if you like that.

I will check that out! I am going to order all of one website. I will use the Norwegian site "www.komplett.no". They do not have ASRock sadly. But I saw this UD5 Z68, And I fell in love. But I do not know much about UD4 and UD5 and the difference between all the boards.

But I will not do any extreme OC or anything. But I will go with an ASUS P8Z68-V PRO/GEN3 and Cooler Master Silent Pro Gold 800W PSU. So I went a fair bit down in price.
