One place you will see smaller coax is in wireless routers for the wifi antennae. Also cable providers use much larger coax.
 
Well i took some "digital" coax from my uncles house when he was moving and its the same size as regular coax. But i now know what smaller coax your talking about ahahah. Should have known, its on my wireless antenna cause it has an extention cable.

Oh ok, it is actually still analog. A cable modem modulates a digital signal onto the analog cable.
 
Ive never dealt with cable before so i dont know, all i know is he HAD digital cable (or so they say) and the cable i picked up from the wall to the modem looked like regular coax. I dont quite understand how it all works.
