New CPU AMD 6400+

Hey just pucrchased and fitted a new amd 6400+ X2 but having desktop lag isues. I used to have a amd 3000 (or somthin) single core and have upgraded. My mobo definetly suports it and ive updated bios and loaded optimised defaults but when doing simple things such as moving windows around the screen i get lag and high cpu usage. Also instaled latest driver from amd site. Any ideas?

i think the problem its from your video card driver

remove your curent driver and install latest version

Meh, I`d bite the bullet and do a fresh install tbh.

I know it`s easy to say, but in all honest u can mess about with this`n`that and take ages - where as a simple backing up of ur vital stuff and doing a fresh install would probably be quicker.

Going single cpu to x2, ur OS will work, but there`ll be little things that`ll be annoying. If ur desktop jerks from time to time, ur gameplay won`t be at it`s best. Increasingly so if u`ve snook in some more memory cos ur pagefile will be all over the place (and make ur desktop jerk )

A re-install is the best way to do it. Other wise check that the device manager has detected the two CPU's and you have installed the AMD CPU driver.

Also check in the device manager that your computer is now an ACPI Multiprocessor PC.
