Dual core Upgrade problem

Please help me if you can. I have just upgraded my Vista PC's processor from an AMD Athlon 64 XP 3000 to an AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ 2.2GHz. This is on an Asrock 939 Dual Vsta motherboard. Initially everything looked fine, the driver updated upon 1st booting and everything seems fairly snappy and performs fine when encoding mp3s etc. However I noticed when running Guild Wars I was in Jerko Vision at 3fps. This was previously humming along on max settings. I then tried 3DMark 05. My score has plummeted from an already modest 4000 to 1200. The CPU score is down to 667 with the new chip from 3300 with the old one. Most games are now unplayable, although Portal seems to run ok.

I have tried clearing cmos, Updating the graphics driver, checked the bios is up to date and installed the latest. I have tried Using a virgin install of Vista and also tried swapping the processor for another AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ 2.2GHz. All to no avail. I have also tried AMDs optimizer. If anyone has any ideas where I am going wrong i would be very grateful for any help. My specs are listed below:

Many thanks for any ideas

I`m kinda in a rush atm, but looking at the text there, it identifies the chip and it`s 2.2Ghz rating, then further down I see 1.6Ghz.

Not sure if I`m reading that wrong, but the memory looks like it slow too.

Wonder if this is something to do with the AMD efficiency thingy u can turn on/off in the bios.. can`t remember what it`s called now.

Gets to a temperature, then slows things down to cool off.. bah can`t remember.

EDIT: Cool&Quiet technology it`s called I think.

Thanks for your reply. I have tried cool and quiet both on and off with the same result. The CPU is running at 55 deg C.
