New build in NZXT H440 needs advice..

First of all I want to say hi - new member all the way from sunny Mallorca - Spain..

SO - finaly I have decided to change case from my HAF XM to the NZXT H440.

I will be using my RS360 rad at the top with push (push/pull dont seem to fit) a RX120 at the back in push/pull - I also have another EX240 but I will leave this one out - and now to the dilemma....

I would like to buy a XTX 360 from EK and place it at the front with push/pull BUT... I am not sure if I will be able to fit my HD anywhere - anyone know or has any experience of this?

I will be using the 2 SSD mounts under the motherboard but I only have 120´s so I need my WD HD for storage.... but with the XTX360 in the front then I lose all of the HD bays...

Also my second question is Fans... Now I have Corsair SP Quiet in push but I want optimal performace/price ratio for this new build.

Here I have the possibility to get:

Noctua NF-F12 for 17.95 Euros - if I were to use these then would it be a good idea to use them on the XTX360 in PUSH and the stock fans in Pull??

CorsairSP Quiet pack of 2 for 20.95 Euros - I have so far 3 of these from my old build.

I can also get the SCYTHE GENTLE TYPHOON 1450 for 14 Euros.

These are my options - what are your opinions? I would need fans for PUSH for the XTX360 and push/pull for the RX120 and maybe push only (if I dont use my older CorsairSP) for the RS360.

I want the performance but also the quietness (I have the stock XSPC fans and when they rev up to 1600rpm then they are loud) and finally Price ratio.

SO? Any help on these 2 subjects?

With two 360s going in there, I'd lose the 120 rad completely. Utterly unnecessary.

Gentle Typhoons will EAT the crappy Corsair fans. Corsair fans are junk for rads compared to those babies. I can't speak for the 1450RPM versions, but I can state that the 2150RPM versions quiet down nicely on a good fan controller. And when you crank them up, the cooling performance is bloody impressive. Corsair fans do not compare, even though half this forum will recommend them.

If you want quiet the Corsairs are better. MUCH better - kinda why I have 12 on rads in Orca hardly running and its uber quiet

Youll only fit a 30mm thick rad in the top if you want to put one in the front too, you may need to run the front one with the barb end tank down though so keep this in mind with hosing.

FYI your rig can be easily quietly cooled with one 60mm thick rad in the front.......

My Corsair AF120 quiet editions are silent at 7v / 600rpm. As in, I can't hear them at all with my tower three feet away from my head. They also shift plenty of air. I've not used the SP versions, but if they perform as well as the AFs then I see absolutely no reason to pay almost double the price for GTs. And I won't use the Noctuas as my rig really would not suit fans the colour of prosthetic limbs and faeces.

Opinion on noise level, but not on performance. The Typhoons unquestionably have much better static pressure. That being said though, OP is going for a balance between noise and performance, so that might not be the deciding factor for him.

FWIW, I've tested both Corsair SP and QE fans, and they don't hold a candle to a Typhoon in performance terms. Of all the fans I played with, they're pretty much dead last in terms of cooling. But they do quiet down nicely and look good.

Well, there's a really nice site which contains a lot of reviews about fans,heatsinks, rads etc.

Their testing methodology is always the same for every review ( well they actually changed something through time, only for better testing ) and i think it's pretty accurate.

They reviewed many fans including SPs and GTs ( but not 1850 rpm ones )

They upload ( on a YT channel ) a video for every fan reviewed to get an idea of the actual noise of the fan itself, which heavily depends on frequency spectrum.

There should be no problem if i link two of them, right?



First video: GT 3000 rpm ( it's 1850 rpm @7 volts, so it can be camparable to the GT 1850; you can find CFM and static pressure data in the desription )

Second video: SP120 Performance ( data at the beginning of the video )

Every video has a link to the review in the description: the reviews are in italian, but the google translate script isn't that bad ( and numbers are the same, lol )

SPs have less static pressure but more CFM at same rpm. Moreover, sounds like they have less high frequency acoustic emission compared to GTs

They're both loud @12V and quiet enough when undervolted. GTs 1850 should be quieter than the downvolted 3000 rpm version, though.

There are also other reviews, like noctua NF F12, noiseblocker eloops and other GTs like 1450rpm and 5400 rpm ones

p.s.: it's better to use headphones and adjust volume to get a similar ( and low ) background noise before listening

Did you adjust the volume to get a low background noise?

If you have a fan controller i'd suggest the High Performance ones, in order to get more headroom if you want to do benchmarks or similar ( the noise dampening will help )

Yes, I have a fan controler but I also have 1 SP performance fan and it sounds like a jet plane....
