New build (gaming)

Hello OC3D!

So I'm planning on building a new gaming rig, and I came up with the following specifications:

CPU: intel core i5 3570k

Cooler: Noctua NH-D14

GPU: Sapphire HD7870 OC edition

Motherboard: GIGABYTE Z77X-UD3H

RAM: G.Skill Ares 8gb DDR3 1600MHZ Blue

Case: Aerocool XPredator White Edition

SSD: Corsair Force GT 60gb (Only for boot, no storage).

HDD: Seagate 500gb 7200rpm for storage.

PSU: Corsair AX750

Optical Drive: Sony Optiarc 7261S

Blue LED caselights (don't know which yet. Thinking of NZXT Blue 2Meter LED lights, but they come included with a PCI-Thing for the brightness, and I dont want that).

Windows 7 Professional 64 bit (Or I might just torrent Windows 7 Ultimate).

Is this any good?

Better SSD is no option.

I remember this build from about a month ago or so, i assume it's now time to build it?

Looks all good to me. Btw how much is the GPU? Just wondering because it would be better to just go with a non-OC version and overclock it yourself and save a little cash if you wanted

OC and non-OC are exactly the same price. Just not a cent difference.

Time to build is getting really close! I just made some changes. Added a SSD, changed case, PSU and the RAM

Ah fair enough, if the OC version is the same price go for it by all means. Looks all good to me!

thanks (:

I wanted to go for corsair vengeance RAM, but it might conflict with the Noctua NH-D14. And they don't have Red low profile RAM, so I had to go with G.Skill.

I'm worried for the looks because I might buy a side window for the case later

I could for the motherboard also go for the Fatal1ty Z77 Performance motherboard. Only 9 euro's more expensive and looks better in a Red/black theme

looks good to me, good luck with your build

Thanks mate!

Btw, what do you think? Should I get the Z77 Fatal1ty performance motherboard or the Z77X UD3H?

The fatal1ty is only 7 euro's more expensive and will look better in my red/black theme

Dont know a lot about asrock boards so would normally say go whit the giga bite board how ever a friend has reassured me that they are like the amd of yester year when it comes to board so if you like the look of it then i would say go for it

Heatsink from the board looks pretty small. I think I should stick with the Gigabyte board

I think for all the higher end Z77 boards it isnt going to make a lot of difference performance wise. I'd say if the Fatal1ty fits your colour scheme I'd go for that. I'm gunna be in the same situation in a couple of weeks, I have a red and black scheme going on so I'd prefer to keep it with the board. I'm considering going for the Maximus 5 when it's out though depending on price. I know that probably isnt an option for you, but I'm sure you wont be disappointed whichever you buy!

Good luck with the build

Thanks for your input mate!

I guess I'll go for the fatal1ty one then

I have a friend who has the p67 fatal1ty professional and he says it runs great!

Now I can only afford the z77 performance one, but I'm sure it'll perform great!

Does sound like a nice build are there any Asus boards in your colour scheme if so take a look at them over the asrock board

Don't worry mate, the G.skill Ripjaws X is a good looking set of ram. No chance of possibly upgrading it to a 7950?
