Hi Guys

Just built My first Computer but I'm having some problems, because I'm a noob i suppose.

Mother board is a Asus P8Z77-V INTEL Z77 s 1155,

Ram is corsair 8gb ddr 3 Vengeance

Intel Core i7 2600 s1155

they are new parts I used some stuff out of my old computer hard drive , PSU etc.......

What is happening is when I turn computer on it tries to start for 6 seconds then turns off then tries to start again continues to do this all the time until I turn power off. Just not got one clue were im going wrong any help would be great.

Green light comes on and a little red light that says CPU led for 6 seconds then goes off then tries again for another six seconds

Thanks

Alan

Does it post at all? You probably got a little speaker with the motherboard or something put it on the place near the front panel connectors ^^ if it beeps it posts. Also you need to install windows again seeing as this is a new motherboard and such.

Have you put in the cpu correctly?

Have you put in the 8 pin CPU power cable?

Have you put on the cooler correctly?

I remember your posts a few days ago, not wanting to build one yourself, well done for doing it! you've made the right choice...

...these are just the usual problems that follow, dont worry

Should i have got this 8 pin power cable with mother board ??? is it the blue one at top off mother board thats 12v 8 pin if ya know the board lol

I tried that,,,,, it will be that 8 pin power cable lol well I hope it is. were would i get one of those ? I did not get one with mother board.

Ok, if the power supply does not come with one, then I strongly would not recommend using that psu with an i7 build. Get a proper one mate, it may have a 4 pin connection which is the old one, and you can get away with just plugging that into the left hand side of the 8 pin, but I'd just get a new psu to be honest

i would have to say the same

The 6 pin ones are most likely graphics card pcie power connects.

No idea about that 3 pin thing? You need to learn the names of these, it's difficult to advise from someone just saying 'two 6 ones and a 3 one'
