That would've been my guess as well. Were they ever ahead in the CPU segment? I'm not that well educated on anything prior to bulldozer i'm afraid.

Once upon a time. I remember my FX 57 being the best processor for gaming u could get. I think that the phenom and athlon days were amd's golden years. It was the second gen I series when Intel really got back into the lead.

The Phenom was actually where they tanked. I mean they weren't awful like Bulldozer but compared to the Q6600 they were positively naff. The Phenom 2 managed to match the later Core 2 Quad but by the time they had done that Intel had released X58.
Game over man, game over.
Vishera is not bad for a budget rig but I mean budget (I3 range). They desperately need Zen really.
