I know I should really know better, but how do I get DX11 working in the games that have it? I have Aliens vs Predator and there were no option for it, just some graphics settings. Same for Bad Company 2 as well. Any info would be great.

Doesn't it just work if it's installed? I mean there isn't an option for DX9 or DX10 either. Or is there?

A lot of games don't specify DX version. Some just say "extreme" or "very high" something like that. You need to google the modes to tell what the differences are. IIRC Crysis only uses DX10 mode on extreme settings.

Absolutely. There really aren't many games in which you have to explicity state the Direct X mode. Usually those that you do are ones created over the period of a new release. So Company of Heroes has a DX10 mode selectable, Dirt 2 has a DirectX 11 mode selectable.

Most though just assume you want the best graphics possible and so run as high as they can.

One thing I noticed when making the jump from DX10 to DX11 was that DX11 was not working at first. Basically Dirt 2 had not changed itself to realise that I had a pair of 5770s in the PC and the settings were still whited out in the options. In the end I just reinstalled 7 but I am sure there's an easier way.

With BC2 I know first hand that you don't get any visual confirmation or settings that are just for DX11. You just install it and I suppose it runs in DX11 upon detecting the hardware.

In a BC2 config file you can state which DX you want to use, it's set to default automatically though, so if you have a DX11 card it will run DX11.

Yeah I installed AvP and it came up in the steam install whether I had a DX11 graphics card. Not seen any other things though yet, my slightly illegal copy of DiRT 2 doesn't want to work at the moment so I'm waiting for 3.

Yeah it's gay. Although I probably wouldnt notice any difference considering my 260 could run it on maxxed settings anyway XD
