New 1440p monitor upgrade - which graphics option?

Hi all,

I am still relatively new to this site, so bear with me :)

I am considering a new monitor upgrade in the near future to the new ASUS Swift TinyTomLogan reviewed recently. I am just wondering which way to go about my graphics upgrade - My current system I have a gigabyte gtx 670 windforce edition gfx card (which runs my 2 24" Samsung 2433BW's) - will the 670 be enough to run the Swift and at least one of my samsungs or will I need to upgrade my gfx.

I do game on my PC - BF3/4 | Tomb Raider | COD

Not after something to beast the games but a decent framerate would be nice.

So should I go for SLI on my 670 (£300 ish extra) or a new card? (Open to suggestions on the new card :) )

Thanks for the help peeps.

Ben.

Current Spec:
i7 3770k @ 4.2Ghz
16GB Corsair Vengeance 1600 RAM
Gigabyte GTX 670 2gig
Gigabyte Z77 UD3H Mobo
2 x Samsung 24" 2433BW
K90 and Death Adder

I'd personally go for atleast a r9-290 (possibly a better bet as cheaper/more Vram) or a GTX 780.

If you are looking into getting the Swift Monitor then not getting an Nvidia card is a waste of the expense. I wouldn't recommend anything lower than adding another 670 or at least a 780.

If you decide to not get the swift but a different 1440p monitor then yes go for an R9 290.

Without becoming hypocritical because it's the kind of thing I do but just be careful your monitor doesn't vastly overshadow your graphics setup in both performance and price terms.

If you've got a £1k budget and you get a ROG Swift and trade in your 670 for a 780 it would of made far more sense to get a PB278Q and a pair of R9-290's. The Swift looks like a waste of an investment unless you've got two 780's or 780Ti's to back it up with.

I really can't tell you what to do because i'm in exactly the same boat thinking about the ROG Swift but I do have two 780's in the drawer, they certainly handle 1440p at 60fps nicely. Having overkill gpu's with nothing to do is a nicer problem than having an overkill display and not being able to drive it. AMD cards undeniably offer better value for money and that's why most people around here will be running nVidia cards.

Decided to go with the PB287Q, Cheaper and 1440p sexiness still there. Kept my 670 in the end and it works a dream, still getting 60fps at least.

PB278Q

The PB287Q is the 4k screen ;)
(I had a massive fall out with a supplier because they sent me a 278 instead of a 287 ... proper pain in the f'n arse.)
