Network shares not appearing in apps

Hello. Can anyone tell me why the items in the red box below won't show up in apps? I want to open a file without transferring it to my computer. If that makes sense? It only gives me the option of the "C" drive.

Thanks for the reply!
They are network shares on my server.
Errm I'm unsure. I think they are mapped because they have a letter? Or does that not mean anything? If i right click i'm not given the option to map it to a letter. The symbol means its a network drive doesn't it?

Windows 8 is running in a VM. Maybe thats the issue?
Even so, it seems weird that the OS sees them, but it doesn't let programs/apps see them? :S

Chris

EDIT: I got around the problem by creating a Windows share on the server. Still doesn't make sense to me though.

Hello. I'm having the same issue on a proper Windows machine. The shares are mapped as a drive and appear in the Explorer app, but i don't see then inside any apps :S

In Explorer...

In App selection...

Any help or even an explanation to why this happens would be appreciated!

Cheers,
Chris.
