Who's dumb idea was it to make a burning program that doesn't burn?

2 DVD-RW drives, both give the same 'Oh btw, Burning has failed after 50 odd mins. But I'm not going to tell you why, or give you any indication of how to make it succeed' message on version 7.

Ok, 7 is a bit long in the tooth. I spend 1 hr downloading 8.whatever trail. Yes my internet is that slow. And low and behold, same bloody problem. Wtf?

I route through my archives and find the PowerISO installer i have been using for about 4 years. Install, burns purfectly in 1/2 the time.

WTF NERO. WTF!

/rant over

I have had many issues with nero recently, particularly with duff recordings (skips in music) etc. Perfectly fine using wmp etc to burn.

Still love Nero though, and wished it would work again

stopped using nero a long time ago after too many problems like hams,it is sooo bloody annoying

lol, still using Nero 6 here :D going strong!, proly only had one error, when was trying to burn the dual layer dvd... :)

He`s right tho. U can get it to validate the recording - and the same thing can happen.

Sometimes u think ur writer is bust - but if u reinstalled windows completely, install Nero .... and it`ll work fine.

Something to do with how it talks to windows perhaps. U got Daemon tools installed ? That can scew things.

Has anyone seen how large Nero Ultimate is these days. It's huge. Close to 1.5 GB in size. There is no reason for any burning program to be that large. I've also had some of the same problems with a burn failing for seemingly no reason at all. Must be a certain glitch, perhaps specific to Vista.

Funny that this was resurrected was trying to burn earlier and Nero thought it might be funny to stop half way through. No real reason just a fail message.

It wasn't even complex i just wanted a data DVD of 2 .AVIs. /fume

Personally I've never had a problem with Nero and have always found it very consistent with burning discs. What drives and media were you trying to burn with Ham?

I have Nero 8 (and I actually bought it :O) and its been fine for me so far. I did find when I changed DVD writers from a Samsung to a NEC my failed disks reduced to 1 so far. But iirc you have a NEC don't you Ham?

Wow ye oldy thread.

Ive got an operatic, originaly made by sony, that gets re-branded under 10000 names so NEC could well be the same burner inside. But i get the same problems on that, my spare pioneer that lives under the crap in my bedroom normaly and the LG in the family PC.

3year old free copy of PowerISO is still running strong.

Nero Portable tbh. All of the Nero Burning ROM goodness, in one easy to swallow file.

Hmmm...I'll have to take a look at that. One of my buds gave me his Nero Ultimate CD and it really isn't worth the size. Pretty much, no matter what, I'm not going to use half of the options.
