NEEED Help PLEASEEEEE

Not sure whether there will be huge difference because these have lower timings (the same as your Kingston). So you may want to wait and use your ram till these or better ones are available.

@ Aurus can a 570 beat two hawks in sli and overclocked to 950mhz? upgrading my rig atm ive got 2 hawks abd thinking to get a non reference 580 when they come out or two cant hurt..

You talking GTX460 Hawks? Well then yes a 570 will beat them by a good margin. Plus it's a single card, which saves you the SLI trouble.

So how wud 2 570,s do? Were can I get the ram u suggested from I'm going to return the Kingston and also if I had more than 12gb of ram wud that significantly effect performance like if I had 24gb lets say compared to 12gb.... And would the noctua still comply with all 6 slots with mushkin rams??

yeah mushkin ram doesnt have any issue with the d14, but if ur like me with the doms then u have to take the first heastink off the first ram module

Well two 570 are just amazing, there really is no comparison for the performance these things chuck out. The 580s are great aswell, just a little better and more expensive. @ sources95 a single 580 is going to rip apart two overclocked 460s.

I don't know where you would be able to get those mushkins since they don't have them at Aria, which is the main place to find them afaik. Just have to wait and see I guess. That's the only downside of the mushkin memory, you can't get al of their products everywhere, because not many resellers stock them.

Concerning 24GB instead of 12GB, well it depends on what you are going to use it for. So what are you using your computer for?

may i ask if theres a big performance gap between a 570 and 580? Im looking at sli hmmm, this begs the question uno that dual 480 mars 2 thingy? i bet it was dropped in favour of a dual 580? i hope.....just save and buy that

Not so. It would be a very close fight IMO given that SLI 460 sailed past the 480 without any difficulty. Mind you, I would still rather have a 580 because it's way less hassle than any SLI setup. I reakon the 580 might just come out on top, but it certainly wouldn't be a ripping apart IMO. Especially if they were overclocked 1gb cards.

Mind you the 460 can be had for an absolute song now, so price to performance SLI 460 is still pretty much where it's at.

To churn out the best performance possible but I suppose 12gb is enough

6 gig is enough. It's not all about how much the ram is, its about how quick it is as well. Unless you're doing 3d modeling and similar stuff you will never use more than 6.

i agree that "ripping apart" was the wrong wording

but for myself I would much rather have a single card, since you don't have to worry about SLI and all that stuff. It also saves some room in your case. I'm totally with you there.

However, I honestly think that if we compare overclocked cards then both the 460s and the 580 should be overclocked in which the 580 will be winning imho.

Especially in Germany where a GTX 460 1 GB is around 200€ and a GTX580 is around 450€ I would rather put my money on the 580, or 570 which is like 350€. So I don't think there is any point to buying SLI 460s atm. For the budget end a single 460 would be my suggestion.

no you don't want be running 2x triple channel at all

. Because having ram in every slot will decrease you overclock.

They will be fine, however right now the best memory to get will be some mushkin ridgeback at 1600Mhz with CL6 timings. They overclock easy to 2000Mhz at CL9 timings.

At that budget I would suggest:

CPU : Intel Core i7 970

Mobo: Rampage 3 extreme like you said

RAM: 12 GB (3x4) of see above
biggrin.gif

GFX: GTX 570 SLI or even GTX580 SLI ? (580 SLI will be totally overkill for gaming atm)

PSU: Corsair AX or HX 850-1200W (depending whether you go SLI)

Cooler: Noctua NH-D14

Storag: Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB 7200 rpm, for storage

and a Kingston V+ SSD (64GB-254GB for OS and some other stuff)

Case: Choose a Full tower that you like

so far this is what ive got in mind

case will be the bitfenix colloses

PSU- corsair hx 850 (do u think thats enough?)

intel i7 970

rampage 3 extreme mobo

gtx 580 hopefully

12gb 1600mhz ddr3 ram sticking with the kingston hyperx seen as i already have them

2 x 1 tb samsung f3

128 gb kingston V+ ssd

nocuta nh-14

samsung bluray rewriter drive

HD soundblaster card

what do u think???

Here is some of the components of my rigs i just received in the mail today
