@ Aurus can a 570 beat two hawks in sli and overclocked to 950mhz? upgrading my rig atm ive got 2 hawks abd thinking to get a non reference 580 when they come out or two cant hurt..![]()
@ sources95 a single 580 is going to rip apart two overclocked 460s.
To churn out the best performance possible but I suppose 12gb is enough

Not so. It would be a very close fight IMO given that SLI 460 sailed past the 480 without any difficulty. Mind you, I would still rather have a 580 because it's way less hassle than any SLI setup. I reakon the 580 might just come out on top, but it certainly wouldn't be a ripping apart IMO. Especially if they were overclocked 1gb cards.
Mind you the 460 can be had for an absolute song now, so price to performance SLI 460 is still pretty much where it's at.
no you don't want be running 2x triple channel at all. Because having ram in every slot will decrease you overclock.![]()
They will be fine, however right now the best memory to get will be some mushkin ridgeback at 1600Mhz with CL6 timings. They overclock easy to 2000Mhz at CL9 timings.
At that budget I would suggest:
CPU : Intel Core i7 970
Mobo: Rampage 3 extreme like you said
RAM: 12 GB (3x4) of see above![]()
GFX: GTX 570 SLI or even GTX580 SLI ? (580 SLI will be totally overkill for gaming atm)
PSU: Corsair AX or HX 850-1200W (depending whether you go SLI)
Cooler: Noctua NH-D14
Storag: Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB 7200 rpm, for storage
and a Kingston V+ SSD (64GB-254GB for OS and some other stuff)
Case: Choose a Full tower that you like
850 ax is better more efficient aswell mine hasn't broken a sweat yet nd I'm running sli atm
