need your expert advice

hi,

Recently, I have built my PC, for general purpose usage and some games of course. The specification are the following:

CPU - Intel Core i5-4670K 3.40-3.80GHz (Quad Core) Haswell
MOBO - Asus Z87 Pro
MEMORY - Two Kingston HyperX black 8gb 8gbx1 DDR3 1333 CL10 (Total 16 GB)
PSU - Seasonic G-550 Gold Modular Power Supply (550W)
CASING - Cooler Master STORM SCOUT 2

I'm planning to buy a graphics card. Probably GTX760 and also planning to use Corsair Hi100. I'm also curious about the Overclocking and water cooling. Maybe in the near future.

Few questions and need your advice.

1. Is my PSU is enough to handle the load. Especially when I add the GPU?? And is it enough if I overclock the CPU and GPU in the future?

2. Because I planning to custom water cool the unit using EK Kit or XSPC Kit in the future. Is it ok I will buy now a Corsair Hi100? Can I use/recycle the radiator with EK Kit or XSPC Kit?

3. Is my case can handle the hardware?? Do you think it's a small case??

4. If GTX760 GPU still not available here in the Philippines and I really wanted to get a GPU, is GeForce GTX 650 Ti Boost 2 GB ok?? What brand/manufacture can you suggest?

Please advice. Thanks..

1: Should be enough, wait for confirmation from other people though.

2: No, the H100i is a closed loop and cannot be opened. What you can do is get a Swiftech H220, which you can expand or you can use a cheap aircooler for now (Intel stock cooler or Hyper 212 Evo) and hold your overclock back until you go watercooling.

3: I don't think you can fit radiators in the front of that so without modding you'd only be able to fit a slim 240mm in the top. For your set-up I would recommend at least 2x240mm slim radiators. You'll have to look up if your case supports radiators in the front. If it does, you can use it but if it doesn't, you're going to have to mod it or get a different case.

4: GTX 760 is a mid-range card where a 650 Ti Boost is low-end. If the 760 isn't available you can get a slighty slower GTX 660 Ti or a slightly faster GTX 670. If you don't mind AMD, you could also have a look at the 7870 Tahiti LE cards, they should cost about the same and are mid-range cards, but with a high-end GPU.

1) Yes that PSU is totally fine to run OC on CPU and GPU.

2) As above.

3) As above

4) Get a GTX 660 from Asus or EVGA

1: PSU is fine but don't expect SLI in the future.

2: Stick with stock cooler or get a Hyper 212 EVO for now.

3: Better off getting a different case IMO. Far easier for a first timer(assuming) to watercool

4: Get a minimum of a 7950/760. 7950 has very few waterblocks so research that before you buy. 760 shoul have plenty coming soon for it.

The 7950 would be a good card to consider if it's within the budget, as NeverBackDown said.

The problem is the availability of GTX760 here in the Philippines. The only available brand is a Palit brand (Palit Geforce GTX 760 Jetstream 2GB 256Bit DDR5) and with the price of $281.98. :(

I'm reading some reviews like http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/...ew,3107-3.html. (Mid-Range) and http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/...ew,3107-4.html (Enthusiast). The Enthusiast card is a little bit pricey that is why I trying to convince myself in the Mid-Range level.

And to tell everybody honestly, I cannot decide. I really don't want to spend $300+ for the GPU. All I want good aesthetic, good performance and the PC will be used mainly for development and sometimes good gaming. And also planning to keep this unit for about 2 to 3 years.

Regarding on the water cooling I think its available here. I found XSPC Raystorm 750 RS240 (New Rev. 4 Pump Included) 35mm Rad about $221.88.

Please guys need your advice.

Thanks guys.

will post the Rig here when it's all done. Hope I can do the custom water cooling.

Thanks again..

I love how you tell him the rules then immeaditatley after he does it again lol

Get the fastest GPU possible for your money OP. Get a XSPC D5 kit and nothing lower than that. Get a different case unless you plan on some heavy modding. Modding your case still may not help the fact you can't get enough rad space into it to keep everything quiet and cool.
