Need opinions on build.

Hi guys,

I will shortly be building my first PC for gaming, but also for basic things like Word, Excel etc.

If I could get some opinions on this it would be great:

*link removed - type out your specs

Thanks in advance :):)

Oh, sorry about that. I didn't expect you to click all over the place, it was a single link showing all my parts, oh well. Here you go:

Corsair Obsidian 350D
Gigabyte G1 Gaming GTX 970 (With the aim of going SLI next year for 1440p)
Intel i5 4690K
Corsair H100i cooler (With replacement SP120 High Performance fans)
ASUS Maximus VII Gene
8GB Corsair Vengeance Pro (2133)
1TB Seagate HDD
128GB Sandisk Pure SSD (For OS and maybe one or two games)
750W Antec Edge Gold 80+
LG 24x DVD Drive

Budget of around 1500 pounds, but that's got to include Mouse, Keyboard, Monitor and Speakers. (Logitech G502, Corsair K70 Blue Switches, BenQ RL2455HM and Logitech Z506 speakers) As well as cable extensions (in keeping with the Red/Black theme), an extra AF140 for the rear exhaust, a mouse mat and Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit.

Well that build looks fine to be honest, the only thing I would even consider changing is the PSU, SSD and ODD.

Could you please list the prices for each of the components as well?

Also I suggest you avoid the z506, best to get a decent headset instead of a good set of 2.1 speakers.

Thanks for the feedback. Which SSD and (assume you meant) HDD would you recommend, bearing in mind that I'm sort of at the edge of my budget? Also, why would you consider a different PSU? I thought Antec Gold 80+ PSUs were some of the best available?

Also, my thought process in terms of the Z506 5.1 Surround Sound (or equivelant) was that, I'm going to have my TV on the same unit as my computer and monitor, and I figured I if I went with a surround sound setup, then I could quickly switch the speakers over to my TV if I wanted to watch a movie.

Here's the list including prices:

Corsair Obsidian 350D ~£70
Gigabyte G1 Gaming GTX 970 (With the aim of going SLI next year for 1440p) ~£298
Intel i5 4690K ~£170
Corsair H100i cooler (With replacement SP120 High Performance fans) ~£84+~£20
ASUS Maximus VII Gene ~£147
8GB Corsair Vengeance Pro (2133) ~£71
1TB Seagate HDD ~£39
128GB Sandisk Pure SSD (For OS and maybe one or two games) ~£44
750W Antec Edge Gold 80+ ~£100
LG 24x DVD Drive ~£12

Budget of around 1500 pounds, but that's got to include Mouse, Keyboard, Monitor and Speakers. (Logitech G502 ~£48, Corsair K70 Blue Switches ~£99, BenQ RL2455HM ~£127 and Logitech Z506 speakers ~£50-70) As well as cable extensions (in keeping with the Red/Black theme) ~£18, an extra AF140 for the rear exhaust ~£13, a mouse mat ~£12 and Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit ~£70

Also, I forgot to mention before, I will be purchasing ScanSure as well just for peace of mind as this is my first build, which will cost ~£40.

Thanks for the suggestion but I think I'd rather stick with ASUS, MSi or EVGA for the GPU, as well as getting it from Scan UK, as I like the sound of their ScanSure insurance.

No need to stick to Scan and their insurance thing is not worth the extra you have to pay.

It is for me, this is my first time building a PC. I would rather pay a little more and have peace of mind than to save a little and risk busting something and not being able to complete the PC.

Not only that though, Scan just seems like it's got really friendly staff and good prices.
