Need Help with Audio/Mic Connections

Hello, I have an Asus P8P67 EVO Motherboard and I am trying to connect the front panel Audio/Mic ports of my case. My case is an Antec Super LANBOY. The case has 7 individual connectors coming from the front panel for the Audio and Mic. But my motherboard shows i need at least 9 connections?

I don't know if this can even work anymore or which pins would go where since they are labeled differently. If you can help me figure this out it would be much appreciated!

Thanks!

Case Manual for Audio/Mic:

1. Locate the internal audio connectors on your motherboard or sound card.

2. Consult your motherboard or sound card manual for the pin-out positions.

3. Connect the MIC connector to the microphone power pin.

4. Connect the MIC-BIAS connector to the microphone input pin.

5. Connect the AUD GND connector to the ground pin.

6. Connect the FPOUT-R connector to the Front Right Speaker Out Pin.

7. Connect the FPOUT-L connector to the Front Left Speaker Out Pin.

8. Connect the RET-R connector to the Rear Right Speaker Out Pin.

9. Connect the RET-L connector to the Rear Left Speaker Out Pin.

Note: If your motherboard doesn't support rear speaker output, you don't need to connect the RET-R or RET-L connectors.

The cable from the case usually have two connectors marked with AC97 and HD. You shall use the HD and it has a pinn that is filled so this shall be in the blanc connection spot in ur motherboard connection spot.

Have you still got the motherboard box? There might be a small "EZ-Connect" connector that'll make it easier.

I think they usually supply one for sound, as well as the other front panel connectors.

Either way, NC means Not Connected, so there's only 5 cables you need to plug in (assuming AC97).

Are the connectors from the front panel marked? If so, what are the names on them?

I think its only the audio hes asking about. There isnt any ez connector for audio, only for the on/off reset, system boot sound and hdd led activity

Well I have 7 connectors from the front panel and they are labeled:

1. MIC

2. MIC-BIAS

3. AUD GND

4. FPOUT-R

5. FPOUT-L

6. RET-R

7. RET-L

The motherboard manual shows:

So would I go with the legacy AC'97 layout like this:

1. MIC > MIC2

2. MIC-BIAS > MICPWR

3. AUDGND > AGND

4. FPOUT-R > LINE OUT R

5. FPOUT-L > LINE OUT L

I don't know if that's right. And I don't know where #6 and 7 would plug into.

try it?

So all the audio cables are not into one connector? are they similar to the small front system connectors?

If so, i must say its odd, and i have never seen that b4.

Antec mixed up my Antec 1200 case audio system with a completely different set up on the wires vs MB lay out. Tbh antec is just as bad as Thermaltake...

I would have tried the HD lay out.

1. MIC...........in presence or sence send. Most likely send

2. MIC-BIAS.........in presence or sence send. Most likely in presence

3. AUD GND.........Gnd

4. FPOUT-R.........port1 right

5. FPOUT-L.........port1 left

6. RET-R................sence 1_retur

7. RET-L................sence 2_retur

maybe someone knows about the #1 and 2

Ah. Haven't had an Asus board for a while, and for some reason I had a mental picture of two in a little bag. As you were.

Topic starter could ask Asus or Antec about this issue. Send them a mail with same info you gave us, and im sure they tell you where to put the different connectors.
