NEED HELP!!!!!! Temps are rising!!

A little late, but here goes......Speedfan is highly configurable, you can even download a config for your board that someone else has made,to do that you have to click on the info tab then Get Config which opens a new little window with a link to the config downloads page(if you have not made an account and signed in,then do it now)You can search for your motherboard here and see how many configs are available(there are 16 for your mobo),follow the instructions there and away you go

Shouldn't the backside fan blowing out and not inside the case? That would create a better airflow. I think that you should also check to see if you have left any open plates (the one that are reserved for the expansion cards) because that would also have a negative impact to your airflow.

Greets,

Is there a way that i can make a fan blow in! instead of out?? without actually removing the fan and turning it around? Not sure what prog i would have to use to do this, if there is one but i know what you mean and i would think that a constant airflow through the pc would create a better cooling system.

I've just been mad busy with work and cooking cleaning things like that, oh an the football (soccer to the yanks) (c'mon Liverpool) lol sorry. But ill see if there is a way to reverse the fan so one is blowing in and one is blowing out if you look on the pics i've put up theres one of the case from a side andgle with one of the fans being on the back (or the left side of the image) and there is one down the bottom on the right) so if i have the one at the bottom right blowing in and the other one blowing out? i think it'll create a better airflow, moving from down to up?? or not lol any ideas? Oh and i can't get the thermal paste til i get paid either, and the heat sink / fan isn't moving it's stuck and is being held on by something but nothing which resembles glue, it feels like its going to come off and then it stops like somethings blocking it.

I'll keep trying.

Hi

Yes you can just turn the fan around. They have screw holes on both sides of the fan so you can mount it to push or pull air. Most fans have a couple of little arrows on the rim to show the direction of air flow and rotation.

The best air flow solution for you case would be to have the fan in the front of your case blowing air into you case and the rear fan exhausting. Remember your PSU fan will also be pulling air out of your case.

As for the CPU cooler, the old thermal paste will often set fairly hard, hence why we recommend running your pc for a bit to loosen it before you try to remove the cooler. Remembering to turn of the pc and remove the power cable as i described in my previous posts.

If you need anything give us a shout

Your fan question is answered :) Look for the arrows and make the front fan blowing in and the rear blowing out. Now about the heatsink. You say it feels like its gonna come off but then it's like something is blocking it. Look around and make sure nothing is blocking it. :) If not, then proceed like explained from the other members.

In one of your photos I noticed that there is still a lot of dust in there. If the photo was taken after you cleaning the inside of the pc, then make sure you remove any dust left, because dust acts as an insulator preventing the heat from being dissipated and the cool air from reaching the hot surfaces.

Keep trying makes the difference between loosers and winners! ;)

From the first photo you posted, I can see also (except from the dusty heatsink) that you have the same heatsink I used to have b4 I change to a tower solution (I have an older 754 socket with an AMD 64bit 3.0 GHz sitting on it)

As said, I recently changed my stock heatsink and the paste was absolutely ok (and that after 7 years!). I removed it with a soft cloth. So, I don't believe the heatsink is "glued" on the chip. This particular design of heatsink fixation is a bit tricky. Before you remove the heatsink:

1) You loose the black lever.

2) You pull the metallic holder (a metal stripe-like component under the lever) away from the heatsink. This will increase the metallic holders length, freeing it from the sockets black overhangs.

3) You make sure that the socket's overhangs are not in the metallic holder's holes any more (both sides) and only then can you remove the heatsink without a problem.

Yep your all right, it is a smelly old pc and id does need a good ol clean, i try to stay ontop of it but it just gets dusty so easily, it's on laminated flooring too which as anyone whos got it will know is a dust magnet, I'm going to take all your advice on board and give it a right cleanin tonight, I'm also going to try to remove the heatsink too with the adivce of Rapid an co.

Youve all been a gr8 help and i'll report back if somehting goes wrong or right.

My computer sits on a laminated floor too hehe! I bought a small 8bar compressor (these things are always proven useful) for 100€ and I have fun while cleaning my computer :D. Additionally, I fixed "custom" dust filters (I dare you to guess from what, lol) to prevent the dust from entering the inside of the pc.

e.g. Imagine this movie scene: I stand outside the house, with the pc on its knees in front of me, and the compressor "gun" in my hand... my wife looks at me straight in the eyes with agony and the camera shows me giving out a slight smile and then PSSSSSSSSSS... the camera shows my wife behind the window, laying her hands on it, with eyes shut and immediately after that it shows a cloud where I stood, but no sign of me. As the dust cloud settles, my figure becomes visible. And there I am, with my now-grey-from-the-dust hair, smiling and spitting dust. My wife looks at me proud. LOL

Make sure the above scene won't happen in the house, or you will find yourself hiding from any relatives wanting to kill you for that dusty cloud :D

Hmmmm (great story by the way, quite an epic infact) methinks i may have to invest in one of those lil fellas, i a powerful hair dryer on cold might do it until then though, but i will defo look into getting one of those things.

Thanks and spk soon.

:-)

If you mean using coffee filters for keeping the dust out, I don't think it will work but that depends on the filter. Try using a piece of women stockings. These are good because they let no dust in but at the same time they don't prevent the air from going through.

A powerful hairdryer is just not powerful enough. You need pressurized air, either from a can or from a compressor or something. Did you manage removing the stock HS?

Hi m8, no the stocks still stuck on there, im just scared of ripping the whole thing off and being without a pc for a good while till i can buy a new one.

I'll try the tights things too thats a really good idea and i'll look into a compressed air blower too (whatever theyre called) I've been short on time, but i really am going to give it an overhawl today as soon as im home its getting unplugged completely and then cleaned up and the fans sorting.

Cheers. :)

Hello hello

sorry i've been away for a bit, Ive been mad busy at work, i'm going to wait until Friday so i can get some thermal paste. So I can reseat the heatsink and fan.

I'll also try to get some of that compressed air too.

Does that stuff run out quickly or is there a way of refilling it?? seeing as its just air.

Thanks

d

PS any ideas on what Thermal paste i should be getting or whats the best stuff for me?

mx2 I think is the better stuff, its what I used to have.

I think that it doesnt run out all that fast, the air. No you cant refill it.

Just got a few days off work so im going to take the thing apart and give it a good clean and a wire tidy, also I'm going to post some pics of speed fan on idle and after playing COD4 for a while, not the most graphics intensive prog but cod WOW wouldnt work , so i had to make do.

Heres the pics the first one will be idle and so on.

See you after i've give it a clean using some of your tips for getting it cooler, I won't have the thermal paste or the compressed air to blow out all the dust but ill try my best to clean it.

Also i'll reverse the frontal fan so its blowing in and the back one is blowing out, an i will try that trick with the tights if i can pinch some of my G/F.

Anyway I'll be back on here when ive done. Spk later. :)

Well........ I think i shot myself in the foot here.

Yep i've come to an obstacle, i found a case which was brand new and decided to put my components inside it.

I go the motherboard in there perfect and it fits nice (no need to vacuum the case anyway or that was my thinking) what i didn't realise was that i had to reattach all the wires, which is were i am now and frankly i'm a little lost now, I've got to connect the HD lights and the power light/button, and a few others, i've connected the front panel audio and mic.

Dont know what help i could actually ask for here but if anyone can shed any light as a do and don't here would be gratefully appreciated.

I'm going to refresh this window for most of the day so if you reply then i won't be five minutes away from getting back to you.

Thanks in advance

(going nuts here) :(:(:(:(

I forgot what they are called but the little cables at the front of the mobo.

They are a pain to get in without a quick connect ;D

It is written in small writting for which ones which.
