Need help overclocking 990x on Asus Rampage II Formula

Hello everyone! I just finished my 1st build about a week ago and so far I'm very happy with it's performance. However, I do run a EVGA GTX 570 tri-SLI setup and I figured I could get more out of my cards if I OC'd the CPU. Based on CPUID temps my CPU idles at around 25C on a liquid cooling loop I assembled (very nerve wracking doing this on a 1st time build ) so I think I have the thermals to afford this. I only want a medium OC of around 4.2ish range and I think 4.4ghz is as high as I rly want to go, don't wanna end up frying my nice shiny new processor. I've read in many cases you can obtain a 4.2ghz OC on a 990x by simply bumping up the multiplier to about 32 or 33 and leaving everything else alone. Yet, when I try this for myself, the system turns on but the monitor doesnt. I then have to restart the PC again and my BIOS tells me "Overclock Failed". I donn't really know why this is happening so I thought I'd turn to the experts. Can anyone help me with this issue? I'll leave system specs below

Right first of all dude you have to get in the forums and read the other threads.

If you just want to bump up the multi youve come to the wrong place.

Any i7 1366 thread will do you fine. Follow those and once you get stuck we'll help you out.

You just need to get yourself started first

(otherwise you just wasted £700 and should have bought an i7 2600k instead)

Your ram is dual channel anyways so thats already fail tbh.

If you want too learn to oc an i7-9xx cpu,please read this thread.Specs are different,but its x58 socket 1366,and you will understand ,what to post.

You will get better results playing with the BCLK than just upping the muliplier.

But also like already stated you are running two dual channel memory kits. X58 is triple channel so to enable double data rate you need three matched sticks. TBH if you just take one stick out you should be ok just be sure that the three remaining are in the associated slots.
