Need help on selecting a motherboard

HI ALL!

I'm working on a rig where black, white and gray will be the only colors used. So i need a x79 motherboard that fits into my criteria.

So i selected these two motherboards, but i can't seem to make a clear decision on what to buy.

X79 UD3 By Gigabyte

OR

BIgbang Xpower II by MSI (i will do something about the heatsync)

Both of these motherboards are black (which is why i selected them) and i know the performance and feature contrasts between them. I selected the UD3 JUST because it's looks and simplicity. So i wanna know if i will miss a load if i buy it instead of the Xpower II.

What do you think about this? what should i select. ?

I would go for the one that doesnt look stupid. That ud3 is a nice piece of kit if i didnt get the rampage i would have got it or the ud5

Well one is a cheap board and one is mega bucks..... So tbh I think that should say it all really..........

As i said before Tom, i know the difference between them. Im comparing a Lamborghini to a Toyota here. I'm building this rig with ONLY looks in the mind and i just selected x79 because it's new. So i don't care about the price, performance or any other factor, i simply care about the looks and if it's reliable or not. The Xpower II just hardly clings to my list because of it's awesum features. I personally don't like the bulky/badass heatsync designs. Looks wise, the UD3 is more of a winner to me.

The gigabyte x79-ud3 with the F8 bios is oc`ing just as good as any more expensive x79 mobos.

in my opinon the MSI board is for 1 thing

Sub-zero (LN2 Mainly) multi-GPU Benchmarking

so unless you plan to to cool your PC 24/7 with the cold stuff all you have is a overpriced piece of plastic

if you want all black i would look more towards the UD3 though if you feel for whatever reason you want/need 8 Dimms I would go for a UD5

best off if they are the ONLY 2 boards you are willing to get to get the UD3 and then with the money saved get a higher CPU (If you aren't already getting/got a 3960X) or graphics card

I'm kinda in the research phase of this build. This is where i do most of the planning and component selecting. So i haven't bought anything yet. (tho i have the money to go for anything). It usually takes a month or more for me to decide completely. Besides, since Nvidia 7xx is coming soon, i don't think i wanna go for 4 580s now. ( XD ). Moreover, all i have in my motherboard list is these two. So I think i'll wait for the 7 series cards and check again for a motherboard that suits me. (What if an ROG x79 black edition board comes out.!!!! OMG)

So until then, i'm gonna mod my tj11 and stuff.
