Need better airflow

Hello,

I bought a r9 290 abouth 2 weeks ago.
I am anjoying it. But I dont think my CPU likes it.
As my h60 is the only outtake in my system, I getho modded a second outtake on the top of my case. But the temps are still pretty high.

Would it be an idea to use my (push pull) H60 as an intake, together with 2 front intakes but only one outtake?

Do you guys also prever fans? Im looking to replace my crappy case fans with something that pushes more air and could be a bit less loud.

Please exuse my spelling

for a start remove the hdd cages, your not using as these are pretty much stopping most air flow into your case.

then maybe run higher flow AF type fans for bot intake and out take cept maybe if your running an AIO then id run it in push through rad and out of the case.

ive got a shinobi xl with 2 stock fans (1x120,1x200), 2 sickleflows, h105 i believe the stock fans are spectres

dont use red font please, it easy enought to see with the spacing in black
and, as i said earlier look for obstructions that are not required.

@Peter182

Do you have an exhaust design (reference) cooler or an aftermarket one on your GPU?
Honestly; Your case was not built for high-end hardware.

Does you case have the ability for top exhaust fans?

I would have two intake fans with a magnetic dust filter, then your H60 in exhaust and also another exhaust fan on the top. This should keep you at positive pressure so it doesnt get too dusty but also improve temps.

I remember reading about that case a while back, being quite warm but for £50 not bad. You could try using some static pressure fans for the fron intake to go past the hdd cages or dust filters, so say two sp fans at the front intake, one out take possibly.

Static pressure fans are designed to work on radiators as they specificaly provide air over surface contact cooling and not volume, you'll have to Google Static Pressure in Thermo-Dynamics for an explanation (be prepared for a science lesson), proper case cooling for intakes 120/140mm high air flow fans will suffice, the general rule of thumb is more intake than exhaust.

All air should be moving in the same direction either front to back or front to roof (diagonally)

Yeah, i was just reading a while back if the hdd cages were in the way and/or dust filters resticting the air flow. I have my top hdd cage removed off my case so hope that creates a good airflow, although i would like to get a couple more fans (currently 3, 2 intake and 1 outtake) so the dust i hope goes through my dust filters mainly!

Looking at my case now, beaten up and full of scratches...
I got an vaction incoming and around 100 euros for a new case, so why not?

But if i get a new case would the define r4 window be a good option?

And btw thanks for the posts, did not think i would get somany replays.

If you don't need the silent aspect of the case I'd suggest getting the Arc Midi R2. Basically the same as the R4 but with less restrictive front intake and better radiator support.

Please try not to double post, you can just edit your last post if you missed something or need to update. ;)

The Fractal R4 is a real nice case with excellent airflow.

Well I feel like a noob now :/

Anyway I think I would like to get the R4, since something is making an iritating high pitch noise inside of my case. I almost cant hear it with this cheap case, so im sure the R4 will (almost) fix it.

And i can also use my old 120mm fans on the roof of the r4, so not all the hot air form the 290 is being pushed trough the rad.

Anyway thanks for the replys.

Ah you shouldn't, it happens! The R4 is a nice case, from Fractal as feronix said the arc midi is a very nice case aswell, Ttl has a great review of it on youtube. You should check it out! I've seen them for about £70 sometimes, and the r4 i think varied from £80-95ish for the windowed version.

Both very nice cases! The high pitch whining noise *might* be your psu with coil whine but im not sure, you'd have to try and nail where noise was coming from!

I know the noise is coming from the mobo, but fixen that would cost more then i would like it to. Its faint, but just loud enough to drive me mad.

Anyway, are there any good r4 alternatives? I would like the case to be black/white so i could use blue led's to match my desk. I really liked the NZXT 440 but the black version is black/red wich ruined it for me :/

But looking at all these cases motivated me to colour code my pc a bit better. Im going for a blue/white interior and black oudside. (Again this would go nice with my black desk and white/blue light) Are there any good cable white cable extensions?

Anyway im going oftopic.

I will use the h60 as intake and use 2 120mm fans as outtake. (and 1 140mm as intake on the front, i might add a second one later)

Ah that's cool, can't be helped and too much of a cost to replace. If it works then it works, albeit a noise that drives you slightly mad ;)

Hmmm some of the nzxt phantoms come in a few colours and is often rated high/has nice features, but the case is really if you like it or not so much. The arc midi aswell, although only in black/brushed alu. Corsair i'm sure aswell although i'm not sure on white/black... you could always slightly mod them possibly, or have a white/black etc... on the inside of the case with parts/cables.

Cables there are the extensions such as bitfenix etc... but also this place has been recommended on here by a few people (And got me looking :p) You should check them out!
