Need advice on how to power a Nvidia GTX460 1GB

Hey guys, I would like some help on how to power a Nvidia GTX460 1GB GDDR5 using a Novatech Power Station 600W ATX Modular PSU. Currently I am using a ATI Radeon HD 5670 and its running fine, but I have a GTX 460 waiting but the problem is that when I use the GTX 460 its seems to always crash when I boot up windows and the screen will sometimes just go black and on occasions the computer will just keep restarting. I've checked the card for damage and cant see any and I have the latest drivers. My question is if I am connecting it to the PSU correctly. I connect the power cable to the card using 2 6 pin connectors and then connect it to the 2 8pin slots in the PSU. Is this right?

Someone please help me out as I have had this problem since I got the card. Any help is really appreciated.

Its not a power problem.

Its a bios problem, i furgot the name but theres an option for then running either amd or nvidia to enable or disable and if im right you only need to toggle it.

but like i said i dont remember the name

can someone else refresh me with this?

The only setting to toggle graphics in a BIOS is for on board and PCI-E there is no setting to switch between Nvidia and AMD.

The 8 pin from your PSU you are using, it's not the one for the CPU is it? because if it is that could be why.

No it's not the one for the CPU. I'vr done some looking around and i think its just a problem with Nvidia's 4 series cards or a driver problem because there are loads of people having the same issue on the same card.

I doubt it's a driver error but just incase try some older drivers because if it is a driver problem there will be a driver that will work. But seen as you are using the latest driver I doubt it's that, the 460 has been out over a year now and the drivers are pretty much as good as they can get.

In almost every post ive seen on problems with the GTX460 there has always been a suggestion that its a driver issue, even when i got the card running and got into windows, not long after it crashed and then said that a video driver had stopped responding. I have a Novatech 600W Power Station.

Try different drivers, there will be one set of drivers that will work if it is a driver problem. Start about 5 drivers back from the latest ones and if you have the same prob then it's not the drivers because any problems with older drivers would have been fixed with newer ones, so unless it's a problem with the new set it can't be a problem with the old drivers, if you see what I mean. Also, most problems with drivers come from when you are watching videos or playing games, not on booting the PC.

Power supply is more than enough though so that's ok.
