Need a good memory choice for the MSI Z77A-GD65

I'm planning a build using the MSI Z77A-GD65 & an i7 3770k and want to use the Noctua NH-D14 cpu cooler. MSI's webpage is a little brief on memory selections. I was thinking about the corsair vengence low profile 2x4gb cml8gx3m2a1866c9b , according to corsair's webpage. Do I really need low profile memory with this cooler? Are there any better memory choices from other manufacturers that would work on this configuration?
Recommendations Please , thanks.

It's all good :)
Corsair's always a good bet, but I have a soft spot for Mushkin RAM myself. Of course, it's an aesthetic choice, but that's just me.
Good luck with your build - hope to see it up in the rig gallery when you're done.

Is there a manufacturer that you would recommend? I'm kind of looking at corsair , G. Skill ripjaws x series or one of the mushkin , not sure yet . The G.skill X gets good reviews , but still looking.

Corsair, Mushkin, G.Skill, Crucial, Kingston - they're the ones that i'd go for.
As i've already said, I have a soft spot for Mushkin in particular.

Thanks , now for the shopping part ... lol
I'll probably order my case ( corsair 650D ) and power supply (corsair ax760i)and a few other things this week . And when they get here order the motherboard , processor and memory. My first build , I hope all goes well.

It sounds like you know pretty much what you want and that helps things go more smoothly ;) Will be looking for the pics in the build log in the near future :)

G.Skill 16GB Kit (2x8GB), PC-14900 (1866Mhz) DDR3, ARES, 10-11-10-2N, Dual Channel Kit F3-1866C10D-16GAB is the one I'm planning on getting. No shops in my area carry the LP Corsair at 1866Mhz, just 1600Mhz.

i'd opt for the 2133 first.. but the LP G Skill kit would look great in the GD65.
remember, the IB platform really gels with high-speed memory.. and if you can
use it.. get it.. the black sniper RAM is great and stealthy...

Not trying to thread hijack, but Corsair doesnt make any LP ram faster than 1600Mhz in 8GB modules. Personally I want the 8GB modules (2x8GB initially, two more later) because in the planning of a new build I decided I want to have a serious go at a Ram Drive. I say it here in this thread because perhaps Mark3Max might find the info useful. By not making those modules at 1866Mhz or 2133Mhz Corsair has forced us to go with another brand.

And yes mate, I reckon the blue G.Skill 1866Mhz modules will look sweet in the GD65 ;) (the mobo I too plan on getting)

Hi Bang , I'm going to go with the 4 gb modules for now , and if I decide to try a ram drive in the future I'll just get another set. The way that ram prices have been dropping , by that time they'll probably be a little cheaper.
Corsair does make a pretty good selection of LP and XMS3 4gb sticks if you need LP.

i´d get corsair vengeance lp 2133 4gb sticks
the blue sticks seem to be cheaper than the rest of them

i was running 32gb Corsair Vengence 1866 quad ch...it was ok

Now im running 32 Corsair platnium 2400 quad ch and my system is amazing

BustedHead , Dude what do you use your system for ? It's extreme overkill for a gaming rig.

I use my system for work gaming and a bit of tv.... BF3 is amazing on my system......i never seem work my pc that hard cuss its so fast for now...till next week haha
