Hey Guys :)

I will take the advice of Barnsley and youse this guide.
And yes this is my first time posting on this forum

• Where are you located?
Im from Denmark

• What is your budget?
I have around 1700 pounds

• Will you need a monitor, keyboard, and/or mouse included in that budget?
No i have it all

• Shall you be requiring an OS?
i think windows 7 pro

• What will you be using this rig for?
I will youse this for a gamer pc.

• If gaming, what resolution will you be playing at?
in some of the highest in BF4

• Will you be overclocking?
No not this time
• Do you need a full build or will you be reusing some old parts?
its a hole new pc.

In the pc i really want to get a intel i7 4770k, a Corsair 750d case and memory of a minimum at 16 GB, DDR3 with at least 2000 MHz

Hope you guys can help me :)

Hi, welcome to the forums :). For the sake of sanity/people helping you I suggest you read this first then update your post with the relevant information.

He wants a system based around an I7 4770k in a 750D. It needs atleast 16gb high MHZ ram and it will be for gaming.

He is in Denmark as well so I guess Danish retailers only.

is the 4770k just for epeen? i guess so. don't get a 4770k it's utterly pointless for gaming, the price difference is about 100 euros and the performance difference about 1-2fps. also you won't be overclocking so i don't even see a reason for you to get a 4670k, a 4670 would be perfect.
tbh i wouldn't drop that much money on that rig, because the only way to do so would be SLi or CF, neither one i'd bother with.
so probably something along the lines of a 750d, h100i, gtx780ti, i5 4670(k), msi gd45/mpower SP (depends on which color you like best), corsair vengeance pro 2133mhz 4x4gb, 250GB samsung evo ssd, 2tb seagate barracuda, some sp120qe and af120qe fans, corsair RM750 psu.
i think i've covered it all? i don't have the UK prices nor the danish prices present in my memory, but it's definitely below your 1700 quid limit, might even be able to squeeze in another 780ti.

I agree with SeekaX, don't go crazy on stuff you don't need. Your getting on for 2 grand there so you'd be looking more at building a custom 'dream pc' with that. If your not even overclocking just get whats best for gaming at a sensible price and save the dough.

Hi,

This is what I came up with, Windows 8 is better for gaming so I spec'ed that.

Intel Core i7-4770K - 275.99
Corsair Hydro H100i - 99.95
Corsair Vengeance Pro Red 2133 MHz (4x4GB) - 89.99 x2
MSI Z87-GD65 Gaming ATX - 149.99
MSI Geforce GTX 780 Gaming 3GB - 419.99
Corsair Force LS Series SSD 60GB - 54.95
Corsair Force LS Series SSD 120GB - 89.99
Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB - 76.99
Corsair Obsidian 750D - 134.99
Corsair AX860i Modular PSU - 179.99
Windows 8.1 OEM - 71.99

Total: £1,734.78

I chose the 860i instead of the 760i to give you room for a second card in the future along with some over clocking.

Thanks,

the 780 should be cheaper than that, the 860i is pointless since the rm850 in that case delivers pretty much the same at a way lower price, also 750W will suffice even for sli, WD blacks are pointless as well and don't encourage him to get a 4770k, that's burnt money for him.
win8 does perform better in recent games but keep in mind that win8's support is horrible for older stuff. so if you think about maybe having a go at the good old cod4 for example, that's not gonna happen with win8.

It's not about us it about "Telling" him what he should or shouldn't do. It is in fact about us making suggestions based around our own personal views and what we think he may empathize with. In the case of an i7 versus i5 I personally would always choose the former. In regards to WD Blacks you are aware the 85% of all gaming builds have them? (Seagate Drives are good for general storage but gaming, no...) They are a good and reliable alternative to dropping £300+ on SSD's big enough (or 2+ SSD's etc) to house a full Steam Library. The 750D will only hold (without modding) 4 SSD's.

The only mech hard drives that are worth looking at as alternatives to large volume ssds are the Volciraptor HDDs. They're stupidly fast, albeit they can be quite noisy.

it is about us telling him what he should or shouldn't do, that's the point of a build advice thread. letting him buy the 4770k for gaming is like letting someone buy a gt610.
why would he need anything better than a seagate barracuda, yea they aren't as good as WD blacks but they have twice the storage and those 2 seconds he saves on the loading screen of a game won't matter much. and they sure as hell are no alternative to SSDs, there are worlds between those. in my option he has a 250GB ssd wich is like 140 quid + 2TB of storage, your option is probably more expensive and offers less.

so we're not here to tell someone that a 4960x for gaming is stupid?
just build something with some suggested parts so people waste their money?

If it is what they want to do, and they have the money then no its not stupid. Its only stupid if you can't afford it... If it's going to give them more enjoyment to buy, build and then overclock and generally play around with a 4960X than a 4670K then it may actually be worth the outlay. I have never done it myself, the furthest I have gone is a 3930K and GTX 690, but I have contemplated the 3970X (when it was still the latest CPU) on numerous occasions.

@barnsley

Raptors are designed for high intensity 'read/write' tasks where a conventional SSD actually slows over time.

there is absolutely no point in getting something better than a 4670k for gaming. it makes 0 difference. why spend the extra money. you don't have to spend 1.7k just because thats what you got. spend less, get a great experience now and upgrade later on with the money you didn't need to spend

wasting money is always stupid, the only thing he gets for the extra 100 pounds is bragging rights because as he stated he won't overclock, he probably won't even look at it again once built.

obviously you can buy a second set of 2x4GB RAM if you please or upgrade the windows version, even though i see no point in getting win7 pro, 30 quid for features you won't use. we even put in the k version of the 4670 if you ever change your mind about overclocking.
